Hello, we don't have a blue badge, even though we are entitled to one, because hubby isn't well enough to drive and I'm not allowed to drive due to severe vertigo/balance problems. We are both entitled to free bus passes, Greater Manchester (GMPTE) issued those and most places except that as proof of disability because it's pretty obvious, at 38 and 42, we've not got one because we're pensioners.

If they want proof he's on DLA we have a copy of the cover sheet from his award letter and to prove I'm his carer I also have my cover sheet from my Carer's award. Only used the CA once as it's a new award but didn't have a problem with it.

You can still claim for a blue badge, it covers cars that your husband would be a passenger in. Enabling relatives, neighbours and friends to park closer to entrances and exits.

    It might be worth investigating

    Hi,

Thanks for your comment. A blue badge would be useful sometimes especially when travelling to the hospital as parking there is awful, my brother sometimes takes us in his car when he's not working.

Plus it would be extra/alternate proof for things like those mentioned on this thread.

Not sure if the rules are the same over there in the UK but here in the Isle of Man you can still have a blue badge even if you don't have a car for use if a reative or friend are taking you anywhere. If it is the same then getting one could be the easiest option and could be useful if someone is driving you anywhere.

edited to add seems from another post rules are similar but I believe you there in the UK have to nominate the vehicles whereas we here on the mainland don't.
