I am told Sky is good for this, as apparently Virgin has a fair usage policy.Unlimited internet usage..
Apparently Sky is good for this too.And a tv package with Sky Sports ect.
Both are good, take your pick.Phone line doesn't really bother me as i have a mobile that i use
Checking the Sky website you can pay between £19-£51 a month, basic broadband included. Hmm..0 -
Been with Sky 6 years and before that Cable before Virgin takeover but use it occasionally at the inlaws.
IMO.............
Number of channels - SKY (always will be more)
Service - VM (only cos SKY are *****)
HD content - SKY (miles more but VM adding more soon i believe, see link) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_HD_channels_in_the_UK
On-Demand - VM (Sky can never touch this through satellites)
Cost - All non PPV content without multiroom = £51 pcm i think it is now (Virgin XL pack guys?)
Software - SKY (electronic programme guide EPG) much more responsive and nicer to use
Parental control - discuss as i don't use it
Broadband - SKY (unlimited whereas VM has fair usage policy)
Style - SKY (box looks neater and smarter)
For me it's Sky by a mile due to number of channels, HD channels much much more and the EPG. These are only my opinions, another useful site worth a look is

I'd go with that except the Broadband, Virgin is far superior even with there FUP0 -

They do!
(But only if you're in a cabled area, which you can check on their website)0 -
Virgin for me.
If your Sky box breaks you have to pay for it.
Virgin they come and replace no charge.
As of August Sky Movies and Sky Sport HD0 -
Sky has 'Packs' (entertainment, movie and sports packs). Without these Packs what channels do you get? How many channels do you get?...it's important to take the first step...action=reaction..0

I'm a virgin customer but when the sky man came round, he told me I'd save money by buying the entertainment package (£18?), and then each additional package was a pound, that I'd only have the groups of packaging I wanted.
But when I worked out the prie of all these separate packages and what I pay now, it was pretty much the same, and least with Virgin I have them all if I want to watch them. (I'm XL package with virgin).Payment a day challenge: £236.69
Jan Shopping Challenge: £202.09/£250
Frugal Living Challenge: £534.64/150000 -
Hi,
Just trying to downgrade my VM package as we are on the Large TV package but hardly watch it - was told that as we don't have a phone line with them we cannot downgrade!!! Grrrr!! Am not happy about that. I don't want a cable phone, but seems I'm being penalised for not having it! Any tips on where I can find a reasonable TV and Broadband package? Can't get Sky broadband here as we are outside their coverage area so would have to have Broadband connect at £17 a month! We don't exactly live out in the sticks either! Anyone got a good deal on minimal tv and up to 10MB broadband?0 -
Hi, just looking to save some pennies. On BT gold package at the moment (about £60.00 including line rental) and looking to change to Sky. Did look at Virgin Media but we are out of the fibre optic area - we are in South West Scotland. Is BT and Sky our only choice for TV, Broadband and phone package deals? Would appreciate your opinions.0
