I notice quidco amounts at present are £65 for Virgin and £95 for Sky. Has anyone seen anything better? I heard people were getting 6 months free HD etc - did they call for this?I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

I've never had sky, but the V+ box is easy to use. When you press the button to get the tv listing up you just press the yellow button and you get to record a series.
Pause live tv which is excellent.
It's free with the XL package, I got my installation free but I don't know if that's the norm.
And whenever I see a good offer for new customers I ring up customer retention and they usually match the deal. Have to remember to renew it though or it automatically goes up when the years up.Payment a day challenge: £236.69
Jan Shopping Challenge: £202.09/£250
Frugal Living Challenge: £534.64/150000 -
Does this mean that you didn't pay the £49 activation fee also?
Really looking for a good deal for everything and Ideally I'd like an extra box with just the basic telly - Size M is it?I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

No, I didn't pay an activation/installation fee, but I rang up customer retention and told them I had Sky on the door/coming back later and asked what deal they could offer me.
I have the XL package, so I have everything bar sports/movies.
The V+ HD hasn't cost me a penny.
(In fact the installation went wrong as the local signal was down, and it didn't work for three days and when I complained I got two months free services:D)
If you're a customer go through to the thinking of leaving dept (customer rentention), just ask what deals they can offer you.
I've been a customer for years.Payment a day challenge: £236.69

Been with Sky 6 years and before that Cable before Virgin takeover but use it occasionally at the inlaws.
IMO.............
Number of channels - SKY (always will be more)
Service - VM (only cos SKY are *****)
HD content - SKY (miles more but VM adding more soon i believe, see link) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_HD_channels_in_the_UK
On-Demand - VM (Sky can never touch this through satellites)
Cost - All non PPV content without multiroom = £51 pcm i think it is now (Virgin XL pack guys?)
Software - SKY (electronic programme guide EPG) much more responsive and nicer to use
Parental control - discuss as i don't use it
Broadband - SKY (unlimited whereas VM has fair usage policy)
Style - SKY (box looks neater and smarter)
For me it's Sky by a mile due to number of channels, HD channels much much more and the EPG. These are only my opinions, another useful site worth a look is
