Sky or Virgin media???

Hi all,
just out of curiosity, does anyone know if there any good offers on at sky or virgin media for me to have the sports pack and asian channels? I have currently got sky installed at the moment but before I go past the 30day cancellation period, I just wanted to make sure I was getting the best deal possble?

I have sky+ with 5 packages (not kids) and sky sports1 and espn. i pay £40 p.m. Looking here http://allyours.virginmedia.com/websales/product.do?id=21 the xl package is probably the equivalent of having all the sky packages and is £23. If you also want sky sports 1 you have to pay an extra £16.50. By the looks of things it works out about the same. The big difference is the user experience. I also have a standard def virgin tv box and compared to sky+ its no contest. Sky is far superior. I cant comment on the virgin hd box but from what I have seen I am preety sure it still pales in comparison to sky. Its also worth noting you get more channels on sky, but virgin does have the channels you mentioned.
If you want hd, virgin does appear to be the cheaper option as you get a hd+ box with no monthly fee (when taking xl). If you want quality go with sky. Thats my advice

    Hi
I know this probaby already has a million threads, but would take a while trawling through them all.

I have been with Sky coming up to a year now and was wondering on peoples opinion on whether I should change to Virgin.

    I currently have
    Sky+
    All channels bar the Movies.
    Unlimited broadband
    Landline.

I would like to keep all the above except the landline which I never use.

I just spoke to Virgin and they quoted me £63 without the phone. I currently pay £55 with Sky.

Does anyone know of any better deals with Virgin? Would also want the V+ box.

Any help or info would be greatfully appreciated.

One advantage of VM over Sky is that,as you dont own any of the equipment, if say the V+ breaks 3 years down the line,it'll be replaced for free,or even upgraded when the new 3D service comes out.

Sky Talk still has an £11/month line rental.

    Hi all

Mrs Boiler and I have been Sky customers for TV, phone and broadband since we moved into our new home some 3 years ago, and so far I'm very happy with the service (it seldom works out more than circa £38 a month for the lot). We have the basic TV package and the 8Mb broadband plus line rental and free eve/weekend calls for that figure.

The thing is, Virgin have long been doing pretty much the same deal for £30 a month. Not really bothered. However, they are also offering HD for zero supplement, something Sky still seem to want an additional £10 a month for.

Now I really would like HD, but I don't particularly want to pay for a service other operators (also notably Freesat) are offering for free.

Does anyone have any experience of getting Sky to throw this in? ;)

Or has anyone tried this and made the break? If so how has it gone?

I'm not disappointed with Sky, and never have been. I just want better value, HD, TV.

    Cheers
    BB
  • Just depends what channels you watch.

Virgins HD channel list is BBC, ITV1, C4, Discovery, ESPN, E4, Eurosport, FX, MTVN, Living, Nat Geo and SyFy.

Sky's full package is getting near 40 channels now.
