Sky or Virgin media???

I just checked on Virgin's website, it said "what services can you get? enter postcode here" so I did that and was told I'm not in a fibre optic location but could still get broadband down the phone line.

Do you think this means I'm not able to get TV then? I'm happy with phone and internet company and was only looking at virgin for TV.

Thanks in advance for any help. Will phone customer services tomorrow and see what they say

Edit.. answered it for myself.. no tv for me, which is a shame, I could've saved £10 a month.. ohhh well

Was looking at switching from Sky as we've been having some problems with our sky hd box lately, pixelated picture, slow to change channel, sky plus recordings freezing etc. Tried a reboot no great improvement. We didn't take out Sky cover and are a bit miffed at the thought of having to pay £65 a time for a sky engineer to come out.

We signed up to talk talk phone and broadband about four months ago, and are tied into that for another eight months.

I had a look on the Virgin website and although it says you don't need a virgin phone line (extra cost) everytime I try and put a bundle together it seems to automatically add a Virgin phone line.

My mum has the basic Virgin set up, and on the plus side I like the fact that we would get ESPN sports free and I like the list of available progammes on demand, far better than sky anytime. On the negative her side the operating of her box tends to be a bit tempramental and thats making me have a few resevations.

Virgin HD any better?

No its not, I was quite clear in my post not sure how you misunderstood but I will explain: the Virgin picture quality round here is dire, atrocious, poor, a disgrace to broadcast TV.

I don't know if this helps but after posting all this I rang Virgin and set up my account (£29.99 package for phone, broadband and TV) and they emailed me a couple of days later to say that they are upgrading me for free to HD. I don't have an HD ready telly so it makes no odds, although when mine packs in I will probably get one. But if you are thinking switching anyway it might be worth just ordering the V+ box and then see if you are upgraded for free, then if not you can just ring them and upgrade to HD anyway.

We have just had Virgin out to upgrade us to a V+BOX with HD and even though we have had some teething problems a guy came out to look at it and said it's due to the box outside or old cables that need replacing. We are waiting for someone else to come out and sort it out for us.

We think that the HD looks fantastic, especially for the football with the World Cup being on. We have just had our first baby as well, so my boyfriend decided we needed a better TV package as I will be spending more time at home now and the extra services like recording/pausing free TV will be useful for when we need to feed, change, etc in the middle of watching something.

I think Virgin used to pay £30 per referral, but if Quidco are really paying £65 for new customers then I'll ring them and get my Grandparents on as they want to leave Sky too.

Virgin are currently giving out VHD boxes instead of standard boxes for new customers, not to be confused with the v+HD which records

right here goes

currently i have sky + , 2packages £19 and phone unlimited and BB with virgin £24

today i have to choose between

sky for all 3, 2 packages on sky+, phone unlimited and bb - £39

or

virgin -all 3 , all packages except sports and movies, phone unlimited and bb £43


how ever - sky then came back with an offer of half price tv for 6 months.....

im sooooo confused!

Sky BB will be capped Virgin is not, however with 6months 1/2 price it is clearly a better deal, non?
