We're saving Clubcard vouchers too, but we'll be swapping ours for Virgin holiday tokens to pay for some of the honeymoon - hopefully we'll have the maximum £700 of tokens per person by the time we book.0

I'm getting married on the 6th of August 2011. I have booked the Church, the reception venue, the band, the photographer (h2b's best mate-how very MSE) and am just about to book cars. People think we haven't done enough planning yet but when I list it like that I think it sounds okay! What else do people think needs to be organised ASAP?0

Hi All
MissReid we are the same day - 6 August 2011You sound really organised.
I'm really excited! All we have done is book the venue. I think we will have a registry office wedding and a blessing too, as my side of the family are quite religious where OH's are not at all. Still sorting out who can do the blessing for us, so it's a bit of a tricky one.
We made quite a lot of decisions - cake, photographer, etc. but haven't got round to booking yet. It still seems like a long time to go but I know it will fly in. I will be separated from OH for 8 months while I do some studies abroad. Wedding planning from Africa might be a challenge, but I'll be back in June so hopefully that's enough time! Hoping to keep it simple too.:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
Hi all,
Well just rang up this morning to book our registrar! (for those that dont know you can book starting 1 year before your big day ****NOTE money saving tip*** if your can pay your fees before 1st April 2011 you dont have to pay anual increase!) Let the 12 months count down begin.
MissRied as my user name suggests lol, we have booked/bought or have confirmed contacts for the following:
Room hire, ceremony, registrar, suits, flowers, bridesmaid dresses,makeup/hair, reception meal & toast, stationary, table decorations, entertainment, cake, rings, photographers and guest list,i must admit some are still work in progress but I dont want to be running round last minute panicing because i'll be stressed enough as it is, hopefully everything will run smoothly then and i can enjoy the day.Wedding day is 26th Aug 2011 and counting!

Going wedding dress shopping with my mum on 29th & 30th of September - can't wait!! Have managed to make three apointments for each day so hope that having gone to 6 different shops I will find the dress for me but if not at least I will know what will suit me and what doesn't.
Has anyone got their dress yet?0 -
Not yet, desperately trying to lose as much weight as I can before I go! Going to the National Wedding Show in October and intend to start getting ideas then, although there is a bridal shop just round the corner from my house and they had the most beautiful dress in the window the other day that I just can't stop thinking about!
So far, we have venue booked, chair/table covers booked, registrar provisionally booked with an appointment to see them this Friday and a photographer booked... where is everyone else up to?0 -
I'm not starting dress shopping until February - I've got a stone to lose first! Though I was catching up on some old stuff on the Sky box today, saw the first episode of Katie and Alex getting married and saw the most amazing silver wedding dress in the section where she was dress shopping in Paris. I doubt very much it would be within my price range though!
I have, however, blown the budget on a really fantastic photographerI'm chuffed to bits to get him, he has a unique style which I adore, wins international awards for his work and is in demand all over Scotland, but he lives not far from here so he's very kindly adjusted his prices slightly to bring them into reach for me.
Got the cake sorted as well, the local bakery does an amazing toffee sponge cake and they're going to do me an assortment of toffee, chocolate and vanilla cupcakes.0 -
Toffee sponge cake sounds heavenly caz! P.s. congrats on the mortgage overpayments:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0

I too want to lose some weight before the wedding and over the last 6 weeks I have lost 10 pounds and have just over another 2 weeks before I go dress shopping. Please bear in mind, however, that from picking your dress it can take several months (up to about 8 months) for the dress to arrive at the shop from being ordered and then you need time for at least one fitting and any alterations and so don't leave it too late girlies x0
