  • Me and miss's were at a do few weeks back, the DJ/entertainer was superb alrounder but some what more than we were hoping to pay. Miss's chief BM was there and said he was that good she would help with the cost! Big bonus because with such a large spectrum from modern to the old he'll suit everybody. As for everything else think we're there abouts? got people booked just need to sort out music lists and the attention to detail.
Wedding day is 26th Aug 2011 and counting!

  • Hey all!
I'm just in the August bracket, getting married on the 31st August in Las Vegas...just confirmed all the bookings and I'm sooooooo excited now! Having a celebration party/reception on the 24th September back home...
I would recommend getting to the National Wedding Show if you haven't been...managed to pick my dress up at an 84% discount and it is perfect! There are some bargains to be had if you don't mind haggling. Think the next ones are in Feb (London) and March (Birmingham).

Not done a huge amount yet, gulp.
We've booked the church, provisionally booked the photographer and had a meeting with our reception venue to discuss what we want, they're putting a package and price together for us this week.
We're going to have a cream tea at the start of the reception (outside if the weather is kind!) and then a sit down meal inside early evening.
Once we can get the reception booked I'll feel more relaxed about the planning!
Finding bridesmaid dresses is my current mission and it's proving tricky as I've got 4 so they can't be too pricy and my bridesmaids are different shapes so it's hard to find something for everyone!
Domsmummy, sounds like you got a bargain on your dress, where was that from! I've got lots of pictures from magazines cut out so I know the sort of thing I want but haven't been shopping for one yet.

Donsmummy - sounds like a real bargain with the dresses. Haven't got my flowers organised yet but aiming to meet with some florists beginning of jab to get some quotes.

Jenny - I have ordered my dress and next on the list is the bridesmaids. I am having 4 bridesmaids and 1 flower girl so it's going to be expensive! Thinking of taking the older ones to Debenhams over Xmas holidays to see if we can find something they like and then take the younger ones shopping after that.
  • My partner got her bridesmaids dresses in the sale at debenhams at full price they should have been £450 approx (for 4), i think at last count she's only paid about £200! although 1 does need new zip. They have a sale on at the mo again and with the discount code you can get extra 15% off.
She's also been out wedding dress shopping locally to see if she can narrow down a style.... 4 shops later she's got the dress, because she was happy to have the shop demo dress ( which was unmarked) they gave her 50% off the retail price and offered to store it till next year.

Hi there, was lurking in this thread and just wanted to warn you about shop storing. Its lovely and a good idea but if the shop goes bust/floods/burns down then you could lose the dress and may not get another in time. I may be being paranoid but after our venue went into administration I just get a bit jittery! :o

Is there somewhere else you could store it? Then your OH could take it in for alterations etc?

    Hope this helps

  • If anyone else is planning on swapping in Tesco vouchers for bits of their wedding, be aware that they're changing the exchange rates on 6th December and also lowering the maximum amounts of tokens which can be exchanged. So as soon as your November statement turns up, get cashing in! I've got £1170 of Virgin Holidays vouchers on the way towards the honeymoon :)
