Hi there, was lurking in this thread and just wanted to warn you about shop storing. Its lovely and a good idea but if the shop goes bust/floods/burns down then you could lose the dress and may not get another in time. I may be being paranoid but after our venue went into administration I just get a bit jittery! :o

Is there somewhere else you could store it? Then your OH could take it in for alterations etc?

A big thanks for the comments, its something i'd not really thought about but i'll certainly ask the question cos we've still to pay the £35 for storage. I would have thought this would include insurance cover?

  • Insurance would indeed cover the cost of it being replaced/damaged. However if it happened nearer the time the money would be irrelavent as you still wouldnt nessecarily get the same dress again in time. Mine is taking 4-6 months to be delivered.

I am just beeing a worrier though and chnaces are it wont happen like that. Just in case ill be storing it at my mums, and taking it to the shop when alterations need doing, although you could argue that could burn down too - although I hope not! Takes the 'shop going bust' option out though.

Good luck for the day, its nice to see a groom so involved :-)

I agree with MMTB - when I ordered my dress I was pleased that they offered off site storage at a fully insured premises. However since ordering and paying 50% deposit things have happened which make me concerned about the stability of the company and so as soon as the dress comes in (not till April/May) I will be taking the dress home with me!
  • Yay, am now a smidge under 10 stone and when my neighbour's husband is next home to animal sit (he works offshore), she and I are going dress shopping!

On the down side, apparently 13th August is the 3/1 favourite for the royal wedding - MiL to be is an ardent Royalist and may start trying to put pressure on us to change the date if there's a clash!! At least our ceremony isn't until 4pm, so we can park her in front of a television at the hotel until then and she'll catch most of it...

Cazmanian - yay to going shopping for your dress - keep us updated!

Have posted our save the date cards just have a few local ones to hand deliver over the weekend - so that's another job done.
  • We're just finalising the save the date cards so we can put them into everybodies christmas cards, might as well kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

    Martin would be proud! :money:
  • Good news and bad news - our wedding date doesn't clash with the royal one, so that's one less headache. Bad news - MY mother is now wanting me to go on holiday with her a day early so SHE can watch it!!! (I was due to meet up with her and my cousin at a holiday cottage in Northumberland on 29th April!)

Oooh now that's a good idea, I shall get mine sorted so we can do the same, thanks!

    Hi everyone.

Im looking to get married in August 11, havent booked a date yet though. Me and my partner have been engaged since may, but had a baby in october, so havent had much chance to think about weddings, lol.

We originally wanted a christmas wedding in 2012, as that would give us enough time to save up enough for our dream wedding and honeymoon, but our plans have changed now as my dad has become unwell, and i cant bear the thought of getting married without him there.

So..... we are hoping for an august wedding in gretna green. The trouble is we want the august bank holiday, but are finding it difficult to find a reception venue and enough hotel accomodation available that weekend, I dont really want to split everybody up. Oh well, if it has to be a different weekend it doesnt really matter, im so excited now, i cant wait to get on and start organising the wedding properly.

How are all you other august brides getting on with your plans?
