Flowers are going to be silk from a local shop. Bridesmaids' dresses being made by my cousin, Wedding dress from ebay! Car provided by her stepdad. I am getting married on 27th August at our local registry office. We just wanted something very small and inexpensive. It is only one day afterall
So far I have done the following:- Registry Office booked ... giving notice on Thursday!
- Deposit paid on Reception Venue
- Bought my Wedding Dress
- Deposit paid on silk flowers
- Deposit paid for Cupcake Tower
- Invitations designed, just need printing and sending
- Bought my Wedding Ring
- Honeymoon to Ibiza booked and paid for ... thanks Mum& Dad!
I feel like I still have loads to do and sort but the reception venue is sorted out the catering for us as we aren't having a sit down meal or a first dance etc. there isn't much that I need to arrange.0 -
Ooh you're pretty organised it's quite scary! I have the same date as you and all I've got booked is the church and reception. Though the cake and flowers are being done by friends and family so they don't need sorting just yet. Now Christmas is over I'll make it my mission to get a few more things added to my list in this next month!0

I was round my mothers at weekend and had 'my wings clipped' over my/our guest list ideas. With the little one on its way we had the idea of reducing the numbers during the day do to try reduce the cost a little, which meant a reduction in some of the relatives we dont see often. WRONG! lol fortunately/unfortunately my parents have give a small sum towards the wedding, which i now feel obliged to meet their wishes over the relatives which are to be invited. I thought this wedding planning was going to easy! back to the drawing board later to see what additional costs we have.Wedding day is 26th Aug 2011 and counting!
Baby Casey arrived 2nd April 2011:j:T0 -
Ohh I feel for you MrOrganised as the guest list is definitely a touchy subject!! I'm getting a bit worried as we haven't sorted out that much yet - eek. Just the reception and my wedding dress of course
We are planning on having a registry office wedding with just our parents and then a blessing with everyone, but this is adding an extra layer of logistics.
The thing I am really worried about is the band / DJ. My OH and I are fussy about music and wouldn't like a cover band or traditional wedding DJ. But the stuff we like is quite obscure and we still want everyone to be able to enjoy dancing. I think a ceilidh would be great and I am N. Irish so it would be fitting, but OH is not sure. How are you guys picking your bands / DJs?:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
Hi Laura - the dj we booked is someone who we have seen at other weddings and parties we have gone to and so know he is what we will like.
How about calling a few dj's explaining your taste in music and seeing if they could accomodate that taste.
Just back from a successful shopping trip - have bought 3 bridesmaid dresses for my adult bridesmaids. Such beautiful dresses and just what I was looking for. Not getting the other 3 bridesmaid dresses until nearer the time of the wedding as they are children and will out grow them otherwise! Exciting to know that I have the 3 dresses and a confirmed colour scheme now!0 -
A friend of mine offered to provide his band for free, but then we were at a party with this fantastic DJ ( not cheap i might add) complete all rounder, which we ended up booking as he would better suit the age range of the guests.
Speaking of music....
we've got a string quartet for the ceremony at our venue. Is anybody else doing similar? what music have you picked (4 pieces we are being told) they are also staying for after ceremony drinks and photo's to keep the guests entertained. They play almost anything (with enough warning) any suggestions on songs we could request?Wedding day is 26th Aug 2011 and counting!
