lol your wrong, she got the braclet first.
with any relationship there are a few events that happen along the way that you both remember. So .... i picked 5 of the most memoriable to us both then found a charm to go with the the situation. The first was our first proper date, day at chester, where we went on a rowing boat on the river, as we stood watching afterwards that was the first time she said she loved me (so i got a charm which said i love you on it) then the next was a house for when we moved in, then a dog as a memory of her dog she lost the year before and for the one we'd just acquired, then next was a xmas tree for our first xmas together. (i'll be honest cant remember the fifth lol) but the 6th was a box with ring which was to represent our future together. As she openned each of the on xmas day in order, i'd wrote a poem to go with the event, She was in floods of tears before the 3rd box! so you can imagine what she was like when she got to the ring lol
How i kept it quite for 3 months while i managed to think of the poems and create the gift boxes i'll never know.Wedding day is 26th Aug 2011 and counting!
Baby Casey arrived 2nd April 2011:j:T0 -
That's one of the best proposal stories I've ever heard :T
And here was me thinking of the Greek myth where Pandora unleashes all the evil in the world by opening a box, but at the end she also releases hope. I thought to myself, obviously the ring is hope, but what on earth else did he put in the box???
:rotfl:
Sorry MrOrganised!Marrying my lovely man on 1st September 2012

Jennyiow - I think we liked him because he was reasonably priced (575 for ceremony up till reception start) and did nice pictures. I had a look on the internet and all the ones advertised are extortinate! There don't seem to be many local wedding fayres coming up which is really annoying! Just want to get the big things booked! (And for them not to cost a fortune!!)
Mr Organised - Thats such a lovely proposal!!!
For the 27th August Wedding Peeps...when are you sending out invites? I'm really worried coz with it being a bank holiday and lots of my family living away I'm worried about people finding accommodation? Do you think I should send them out relatively soon so people have loads of time to book?0 -
I know what you mean Smookle, my family have been harassing me since December to book accommodation, our wedding is 6 August, and we were planning to send out invites in March.:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0

Lara, mine too! Are you going to block book accommodation or let people make their own arrangements? I don't even know where I'm staying yet, let alone my guests!0
-
Hoping to get our invites sent out by end of March. The hotel where we are having the reception have block booked all the rooms in the main part of the hotel until we confirm definite numbers. We will ask guests to contact hotel direct to make the booking.
I have just emailed the hotel to find out when we can visit for menu tasting so we can agree on menu choices and then we can prepare our invites.0 -
Sorry to back track,
but seen as you liked the story behind my proposal do we use the pandora box theme with the rings on top of the wedding cake???? as we really cant decide.
As for accommodation worries i'd check with your reception (if they have rooms?) as our venue reserve all rooms for your guests, for the day you get married up till a month before (the venue for us is only small and only caters for 1 wedding / day) after which time they will allow others to book. But with our wedding being a friday one of our guests wanted to stay Saturday as well but because they have another wedding on they cant. oh well.Wedding day is 26th Aug 2011 and counting!

Do your guests know the story behind the box ....or do you want it to be one of those things you share as a couple?
its a great personalised thing for the wedding although if your guests dont know the story behind it you will spend the day telling them.....and as long as you are happy to keep repeating it then theres no problem with having it as your cake topper...frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend0 -
I agree with LEJC about the cake topper.
Our reception venue doesn't have accommodation (which is probably how they manage to keep the price down...) and is fairly out of town too. I think I'm going to have to block book some rooms in the hotel we're staying at after all...0 -
Just posted this on another thread, but thought it might help you ladies too! Good luck.
Hey,
Here's some suppliers that I used....and some tips. We managed a castle wedding for under £10k so felt like real achievement
- Super gorgeous personalised wedding invites (postcards) http://www.cutemaps.co.uk I got them with a discount flyer so they came in at just under £1 each.
- http://www.momentville.com I used the postcard to direct people to our wedding website which had all the full info on it
- http://freegiftregistry.com We put a link on our website to this. It meant our registry consisted of ANYTHING we could find for sale on the web!
- http://www.trianglenursery.co.uk I designed all my own flowers. I had elaborate tree centerpieces that would have cost the earth, but managed to do all of our flowers on £300
- http://www.bestbridalprices.com Everything I liked seemed designer so I bought a simple mermaid Alfred Angelo from this site for $400 and then had a designer out a strange bow and over the shoulder detail on it - total cost £430
- http://www.ebay.co.uk Bought tons on here from card to deco. I bought wooden monogram letters for £2 each, painted them white and hung them around everywhere with pretty ribbon
- http://www.michaeldark.co.uk Excellent for buying bulk decoration bits. I bought dried rose petals instead of confetti. A 2 litre bag was apx £10
- http://www.etsy.com absolutely awesome website for all things cute and crafty. I bought a really unique fabric necklace on here for my bridesmaids
- http://www.stylemepretty.com not a supplier but the best blog for wedding inspiration!
- http://www.marthastewart.com the wedding section has hundreds of unique diy projects!
Good, good luck with your big day!!0
