Bought my daughters' silk flowers from Dunhelm Mill last week. Just downloaded and made the wedding music CD. Caterer and cupcake maker booked at last. 24 bottles of champagne from Asda, less than half price!( Even with corkage, still cheaper than the venue) and purple heart shaped chocs for table favors bought from Ebay yesterday! We are getting there!
Date: 20th August 2011I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Hilstep - sounds like you are organised and plans are coming along well.
I booked our wedding car last weekend and yesterday I went to see a florist and I really liked her and her ideas so think I will book her.
Can I ask what others are doing about table decorations? We are having a flower arrangement for the top table but need to put together something for the other tables.0 -
Hi all i am a newbie to this site but i thought i would just let you know how my thriftiness is going: I'm getting married 20th August 2011 in Winslow and am pretty much organised, have saved alot of money by trawling ebay for BM dresses £25 each, BM shoes £17.50 each, FG dresses £7 each, my bouquet, 4 BM bouquets, 4 FG pomander balls, top table display and 9 buttonholes-£200 in total, my veil £10, my Amanda Wyatt tiara £23. Making my own invites and OoS saving approx £300, friend of family making the 5 tier cake and icing it and i will decorate it myself saving approx £600. Our biggest expense is the marquee but it comes with everything and the land we are using is only costing us £500.
For our table decs i am using ivory birdcages as centrepieces entwined with ivy, cream roses and butterflies, using clear scatter crystals around the table and i have some lovely tiny glass bowl-like tealight holders.Engaged 16th July 2010:j. Hallelujah, I think I've FINALLY managed to sort out the wrangle over who gets to stay at the hotel where the wedding's being held (it's only got 12 bedrooms and it's almost come to fisticuffs!). We've also managed to agree on the wording for the invitations, so I have to find my fountain pen tomorrow and get writing.
Next decision: are these GORGEOUS cupcakes worth paying an extra 70p per cake for over the cost of the less decorative ones from the other bakery I'm considering...? I'm inclined to think yes, but the budget is going to run away from me if I'm not careful.0 -
I knew things were going too smoothly (getting married 27/8/11) - came home tonight to an answerphone message saying our Wedding Co-ordinator has left the hotel and to ring them to arrange to go in and see the replacement. I'm really disappointed as was so impressed with our co-ordinator and had such trust and faith in him.
Am trying to remain positive and think well at least they rang to let me know and have asked me to arrange a meeting to go and see them but am still feeling prettytonight

PrincessShyanne, you maybe a newbie but your money saving sounds spot on, keep up the good work.
Cazmania, are they that big a difference in standard of the 2 cupcakes? ie has taste been taken into account? if the cheap one's taste cheap.....then....you'd then be justifying buying the more expensive one's if affordable to yourselves.
Gillm66, dont loose heart hun, like you said at least you got to hear about it in good time. Just means you will have to bring the new person up to speed with your ideas and try to ''mould'' them to your benefit.
As for our plans.... the guest list issue with the relatives has been sorted, to save family arguments, i've had to put my foot down and agree to invite additional guests. Thinking that long term family support with a new child on the way is far more expensive (priceless) than couple hundred extra on the wedding bill.
Latest widewife visit, mum and baby fine, although mum is now worried baby is measuring a bit on the big side lol. Nursery nearly finished, just want to get carpet cleaned before putting everything back.Wedding day is 26th Aug 2011 and counting!
Baby Casey arrived 2nd April 2011:j:T0 -

I just want to run away and forget the whole thing today!!!

Oh no poor you it sounds like a nightmare. What date is your wedding and what is your budget for photos and maybe we can come up with suggestions for you.
Fingers crossed make up lady is just busy and will respond soon. Do you have another number for her?
Sounds like you have accommodation sorted and so BIL was being unreasonable.
Try not to get too stressed x0 -
