  • I have been padding money into a moving house fund, but I am waiting for the right price place to turn up - either a room in a house, or a 2 bed place with someone from work. Unfortunately prices around here are crazy and it wouldn't be of any benefit to move further away as I'd be paying more in petrol!

As I am putting money into the house fund instead, my debts haven't really been decreasing recently, but I figure the more I save for a deposit, the less will go on the credit card I had paid off.

I'm not going to Venice now, but my friend is working in Cyprus for 2 years and will be renting a house over there so I've booked a flight for my leave in August to go over there.... £38 one way, and I'm waiting for the same to book the return flight. I won't have to pay for a hotel, and I'll make my friend get some food in for us to cook or have bbqs or something as he is aware I'm short of money. I also sort of accidentally started organising a forum meet in Glasgow in September but I've used some quidco money to cover the flights and can budget a bit of cash between now and then. If you fancy it.... Glasgow Meet 25/09/10 Have also agreed to go down to Littlehampton in 3 weeks for a reveal on a house that has been fixed and done up by DIY SOS and meet the forum members that are part of the thread that made it all happen on the DFW board.... Please advise - it's all gone SO wrong

I found out yesterday that my job does allow part-time jobs outside of work, but it's going to be hard to get something that fits around my shift work. There is one that I want to apply for with the charity I do volunteer work for but again it needs to be pretty regular hours which I can't always do.

I have my last counselling session in a weeks time, and although we haven't covered much in the last couple of meetings (talking about random things!) I'm going to miss it a bit as it feels so good to be completely honest with someone and have them properly listen to you.

I would imagine a house would be quite expensive around 38,000 feet high! :p

Slow and steady wins the race and besides like you said, the more you have saved up the less you will spend on the cc. Plus once you have saved up enough, you will start repaying debts. You have done remarkably well so far! :)

If it's any comfort, Paris ain't happening and I am not going on holiday till Christmas - maybe?

Would love to come to Littlehampton but got exams that week! :(

Would also love to be in Glasgow but I will be studying yet again (provided I pass these exams)!!! :(

You don't want to overdo the working bit and killing yourself! Plus it's only debt which is not increasing!! It's decreasing albeit not as fast as you would like (it's a marathon)!

I have told you before, just give me a shout if there is anything I can do! :)

That sounds like a lot :( But you are still here, so no more tantrums about your debt recently? ;)

I'm good, yes still flying very high..... supposed to be writing another assignment right now that was due in last Thursday and I said I'd have it done by tomorrow. Have forgone a night in the pub for my friends birthday to write the stupid thing. Why am I doing this?!

No news on that other issue yet, they are meeting on 16th June to discuss with Union. :j

It is a lot, tempted to call them slave drivers! But I know I would be insulting people who had to go through slavery so will refrain!

Still throwing tantrums!! Just not throwing my toys out of the pram, not yet anyway!! I seem to have resigned myself to the love-hate (read hate-hate) relationship I have with my debt (have updated my thread)!

On one hand I feel for you, on another I don't! :o I am sure you will finish the assignment on time!

As far as I am aware the issue is very much in the unions court and they are holding it up (not defending the management)!

  • Thought it might be time for an update.... so much been happening recently!!

I have found a flat with a friend from work, if it all goes through then we move in on July 6th. I am so so so happy to have got things sorted and can't wait to move into a place that I can call home for a bit!! It's going to cost quite a bit more a month than I am paying at the moment but it should be so worth it.

I have won tickets to Latitude Festival!! We decided last year we didn't want to go again, then we changed our minds and by the time it came to us buying tickets, they had sold out. Just waiting for the confirmation letter!

I have just spent 3 days in Littlehampton with an incredible bunch of MSE'rs. I am truly privileged to have been involved in the project and to meet all the people involved. Emotions were running very high and I don't think I have spontaneously burst into tears quite so much! Probably one of the best 3 days of my life.

Debt busting will be slowing down even more when I move, but I am determined to avoid using the cc again. I have 7 months or so before I have paid my car off but after that I shall have another £100 free to put towards other debts, and some shares from work should be available which will be a small boost to the debts. Patience is a virtue, and my sanity relies on me having a home rather than getting debt paid.

All in all, a very good week. I feel truly happy and positive for the first time in a long time.

Found this earlier thanks to a friend on fb, and it made me smile. It's incredibly hard to keep from doing the same thing sometimes.

I haven't heard about the flat yet, but I've arranged self-storage so I can move out of the current flat and stay on my friends sofa for a week until we get the keys for new flat. I really don't want to go back, and live there, even just for a week. I had the misfortune of connecting my living situation with how it was living with my mum. Home should be a place you can rely on as a safe haven, no stress, no worry, just chill and leave the stress at the front door. So sunday morning, I'm packing up and moving outta there.

I'm so glad I have the friends I do, I owe this particular one a BIG box of chocolates and bottle of wine as she has let me stay at hers for 3 weeks while our friend is away, and has said I can sleep on her sofa for the week or so until I can move. I'm a very lucky girl with the people I have around me, and somehow the trip to Littlehampton has made me able to talk about this more freely! I'm such a closed person, but I think after getting so emotional in front of a bunch of strangers, there isn't much left to hide! :o

MSE is taking a backseat/is on the back burner, for now until I can get moved and sorted. It's still there in the back of my mind though, and patience will see me through as by the end of the year I should be able to make bigger payments to the debt once again, but might have to manage on min payments for the next 6 months.

I did say on the PAD thread though that we should be proud of, and celebrate our small goals and I shall remember the fact that I am under 10k for the first time in a few years and I have still achieved something with it all!

    xx

Oooh I forgot to come and update. I currently have a cup of tea in my hand, trying to wake myself up cos it's MOVING DAY!! My first home since I moved down here.... very exciting.

I also have a sort of interview on Thursday for a casual night carer in Essex. Someone explained to me I can't cut back any more than I already do, so the only way to try and hit my debt is to increase my income. Fingers crossed it's something I can do, the pay is ok and they take me on!

Had the confirmation letter for festival tickets, so looking forward to that too and I've also won tickets to go and see Paloma Faith tomorrow night in London so can't wait for that either!

At the moment, things just keep looking up!

Debt busting not going so well and I feel myself sliding down the slippery slope again. So much going on, so many things I want to do and I'm sick and tired of this debt.
