Hey Psychopathbabble, i think your diary reads really well, and sounds like your doing great and i'd be really proud if i was you to get one down....And looking at your signature it does say 10k by May so wouldn't be to far from your target??How many other cards do you have to pay off? Are they on the best balance transfers available, now you've cleared off that CC they may be offering you a balance transfer to keep your custom?

Thanks Aspiration.... I wasn't sure about writing a diary but it kind of helps to keep me thinking about staying on track.

After next payday I should be well under 10k so it's definitely on track. I think I'm just getting frustrated, but I am having a life at the same time so I can't complain too much! I have 4 more cards, 1 loan, 2 overdrafts and my car to pay for. I'm hoping I'll get offered some good balance transfers once I start clearing them but we will see... half of one of my cards is on a BT and two aren't tooooo bad interest rates.
  • Ok, so I'm in Paris for work and have been here since Sunday. I have managed to resist any spending and have only spent 6 euros while here and I go home tomorrow. Was a bit miffed to see my 'clear' credit card accumulated 6.03 interest this month but I've paid it already so hopefully I was quick enough to prevent any more interest occurring next month.

Whilst I've been good MSE wise here, as I'm on my own it's not doing me much good mentally. I've been working with french colleagues and I'm not happy about one of them and the way she spoke to me and bossed me around (I've been in the company longer than her, and am not used to the way they work over here). I am the kind of person who needs to rant and get it out of the system, rather than holding it in (for stupid things anyway) and being on my own, in my own company is killing me!

I am thinking about joining a slimming club, which isn't good for being a DFW but I can tell I'm putting on weight, and getting way more wobbly than is good for me. I know slimming clubs make a lot of money but I"m no use doing it on my own without support and advice.

Now I've just written that, I've just seen some people from my base! So going to go and chat to them for a bit before I go to bed.

Ok, I am so very glad I came home when I did as I would have been stuck there with the volcano thing if not. Been enjoying my extra days off, although MSE has sort of slipped a bit as I've spent too much money going out and stuff. I have had a lovely few days though. It's my birthday in a couple of weeks and I have lots of plans so I will be spending a fair amount then as well, but once it's over I'll be back on the wagon.

My friend who I am bridesmaid for later on in the year has also asked me to do a reading at the wedding for her. I'm priviliged to have been asked but so very scared and nervous already!! I have to choose the reading and want it to be perfect for her.

Now I have to seriously start studying as I have an assignment due in on Tuesday and I may have to work my days off as I volunteered to help get crew and passengers back to the UK.

The cc I cleared had accumulated 6.03 in interest last month, which I paid the day after the statement came out so fingers crossed it's really the end of that card now!

Once my minimum payments all clear, I will definitely be under 10k! Can't remember the last time I was in 4 figures of debt. More excited about that than paying off my first cc! I would have been under 10k on friday but couldn't afford to pay my whole car payment so halved it (its to a friend anyway so no charges!).

Anyway, it's my birthday today so I am off to eat cake and lounge around. Going out for dinner tonight when I get back to Herts so looking forward to that. I am doing lots of things for it, which I can't really afford to do as I got paid less than I expected so had to re-arrange my budget drastically for the month, but it should be worth it! I think debt is important to pay off, but if I didn't ever do anything then I'd just go slowly mad and I don't think it's worth losing your sanity over!

Now my birthday is over, the month of May seems to stretch out in front of me forever..... it's tough knowing I don't really have any money to spend for the rest of the month. But back on the MSE bandwagon I jump. Really want to stick to budgets this month and pad as much as possible. Planning to do a car boot at home sometime soon, but not sure whether to go this month after all (when I don't have the petrol money) or wait until June/July when it's likely to be busier. Just impatient to make as much money as possible!!

Hi I've just subscribed to your diary - nice to see one from someone in a very similar situation to myself! Sounds like you're doing some brilliant work and you should definitely go for a car boot - I've done a couple in the past and they can be a brilliant way to make some cash quickly without the hassle of E Bay!

Yay, thanks for subscribing!! Feel free to input anything you wish.:p

I've done them before, I think my record is £180 as I always have hundreds of books and sell them for 50p/£1 each. Just can't decide whether to wait a month, when I can afford to go home again or push my luck and go this month!

    Welcome to MSE :)

I worked out a couple of days ago that I'm paying the debt off at a rate of £20 a day (since 1st Feb this year) and if I continue this way, it'll take nearer 18 months to pay everything off. I want to pay it off in half that time, so I really need to up my game and knuckle down to saving money.

Not spending money is just so difficult but I guess short term pain is long term gain. I was going to go to Venice to see a friend in August, but it'll cost me over £200 so I have said I won't go. Going to do a carboot next weekend, and also one in July most likely. Haven't got anything to sell on ebay, so car booting is my only option really. I'll be doing it with a friend at home, so we will split the profits (even though most of it is her stuff!).

I'm going on a date tonight, and I'm struggling with this both mentally and financially. It's only the second time I've met him so obviously far too soon to talk about my financial situation but I don't feel I can just let him pay without at least offering to pay half, even if he says no. I hate the subject of money, I was trying to explain to my friend this morning.... when it comes to pay, I feel so awkward bringing up the subject of going halves even though I really want to!! But I think it just comes from not wishing to discuss money, and the subconscious fact I can't really afford to be going out for dinner.

Mentally, I'm not sure how I am going to cope if this starts going any further. I've only just recovered from a period of depression that saw the end of a lovely (if short lived) relationship and I can't help but blame myself for it. I know I overthink things far too much, and I should just take it as it happens but I'm struggling to. I have 3 sessions of counselling left, and I thought I felt better but these last couple of weeks has seen me hit a lower level again.

Anyway, onwards and upwards..... I got 90% in my last open uni assignment so I have positives I can focus on. And so what if I don't pay off my debt by the end of the year, it's only myself who is going to punish me.... I can't remember the last time it was a 4 figure sum, so I should be proud of that too!
