  • I have just used most of my deposit fund to pay off my smallest credit card. Robbing Peter to pay Paul but I wanted that card paid by the end of the year. I can't spend on it again as it will automatically close once I've paid the outstanding amount.

In other news, not sure what's happening with moving again. We are trying to fight the letting agent as they still want 2 months notice (our current contract expires on Jan 5th) but when we emailed them to say we weren't deciding anything until after the damp problem is being sorted, we weren't told it would still be 2 months. And the landlord said we can decide when we want but didn't say he would still want 2 months notice. Our argument is that the flat was uninhabitable for weeks, and has caused us both to be ill. I'm letting my flatmate deal with it though as I'm pretty happy to stay here for a while longer. It doesn't help she is away for a month in January and has decided she doesn't really want to have to pay rent while she is away (should have thought about that before!!).

I submitted my final 10 photographs for my short photography course yesterday, so fingers crossed I pass. I get my results for my childhood exam in 7 days!

Was getting worried about you as you seem a bit quiet at the mo :(

Well done on paying off the credit card, even if it is robbing Peter to pay Paul psychologically it always feels better to have one less debt. :T

Has the damp rectification works happened and is it making a big difference? If you flat mate is away for January is there any chance she will move out before she goes and leave you in the lurch?

Fingers are firmly crossed that you get the results you want in 7 days. Did have a look at your photo's the other day, you do have such a great eye and I love some of the special effects you have done so you should sail through that exam too :D

If you are not working on the 30th and you would like company for the broadcast of the century you are very welcome here, spare bed is always made up if you want to have a drink ;)

  • Hi

saw your post on PaD about paying off a cc, and popped over here to see what was happening over the flat. Does your local authority have a housing advice service? Where I work, the housing advice service not only deals with homelessness, but gives advice and assistance to tenants of private landlords about issues around deposits and unfit accommodation etc. It may be worth a try.

  • Thanks Gill, will have a look!
  • We are moving out on January 5th, luckily they let us off the two month notice thing as my flatmate rightly kicked up a bit of a fuss. Not sure where we are moving too, waiting for the right place to come up. There is 3 of us moving in together so it will be nice to have a house. I'm going to be staying in various friends spare rooms so I have a bed until 23rd Feb although I hope we have found something by then!!

The debt-busting has fallen by the wayside at the moment but I don't feel too guilty as I'm enjoying myself. I'm not splurging lots of money but it's nice to treat myself with cash rather than knowing it's going on a cc. Hopefully get back to my usual budget after the New Year.

Feeling more stable on the medication although I'm having real trouble sleeping which I'm finding tough. Doesn't help we had a few late nights at work due to the snow last week. Been going to counselling again which I find hard as it's a new one and she works completely differently to the old one I saw. Still giving it a try though! Trying to 'neutralise' my negative thoughts but not sure if it's working.

Some of you already know I've met a very lovely guy... he is away for Christmas though so it's frustrating not being able to see him. Been in contact every day though and he calls me when he can. We have only actually met up a couple of times, but I miss him which is crazy. Trying not to get my hopes up too much or think too much about how it's all going to go horribly horribly wrong.... trying to take it as it comes and not overthink things too much.

I am looking forward to the end of 2010, it's been a good year in some ways but not in others. Let's see what 2011 brings us all! x

  • Long time since I updated, but finally got proper internet today so thought I'd take the opportunity to update.

Got a credit union interview to see if they will give me a loan at a cheaper rate than all my other debts, so fingers crossed it works out. I know consolidation isn't always the best answer, but I think I would be a lot better off in the long run. Have also just finished some training with them to volunteer around my local area and increase membership.

Things are going well with a certain MrS I met just before christmas. We are planning on going on holiday for my birthday in 7 weeks, which I can't afford but life is just too short sometimes. Am very much looking forward to it, as we don't really get that much time together with my shift work and his various commitments.

Moved into yet another house, this time it's not damp or mouldy! Hopefully this one will be home for a while.

Got an interview next month for a promotion at work, I don't really want it but still hope I get it! It would mean slightly more money for a lot more responsibility but I've been there long enough so thought I should apply. Every little helps as they say!
