Thank you all for being so welcoming. I've not had a good start to the challenge as I have a bad cold and didn't feel able to fight it and the chocolate cravings at the same time! Congrats to all of you who are doing so well though.
Lostinrates I wouldn't worry about having your largest meal in the evening, although it may take some getting used to, I firmly believe that it doesn't matter when we eat the calories just how many versus how many are burned off.0 -
Hello,
I love your title thread and would like to join in please?
I am overweight and starting to bust out of my size 16 clothes and I really dont want to give in and buy 18's.
I am also very unfit, ran for the train yesterday and felt like I was dying!!
Was told in january that I have high cholesterol and so I started a low saturated fat diet but have somehow managed to actually put weight on.
So I have made the decision to join a gym - I know I wont exercise unless I am paying for it - and I need to reassess the diet too
ps - no one got me an easter egg this year which I was actually happy about lol0 -
I thought I had avoided dreaded easter eggs until my aunty gave me one this morning! uhh its just staring at me saying "eat me! eat me!" Think i'll give it away. Actually i'll take it to work and they can eat it!0

I know what I need to do, get up of my !!!! and eat the right types of food but eating is almost a compulsion with me and I know that when I put the food in my mouth. It's like there is an angel and a devil on my shoulder, one saying stop and the other saying go on, have it, you know it will be delicious!
I don't comfort eat, I just love food and overeat. Why have one when there is a whole packet there?!
So shall I sign up again and hope that this thread will give me motivation?
I thinkthe thread is part of the motivation.
TBH I think one has to have a little bt of a selfish attitude when dieting: needing to focus only on yourself and goals.
Do you ...love food/eating more than you love the idea of being slimmer? That's eally the question.I'm not sure there IS a right answer, its ok to be overweight if you are happy and healthy. Its not ok to be always miserable and taking comfort in knowing food is nice: its meant to be nice!
My most prompting thing is a pair of jeans, and I've slacked recently , so I'm going to do this at the weekend, I try on a pair of jeans in too small a size and aim to get in to them, trying as often as I want, to see how far off them I am.0 -
I'm on the second day of the doctor's diet (I'm sorry if posting about it too much, but ATM its helping me ). And.....I'm hungry! Its funny because I've eaten less, well, a lot less, and been less hungry. The eating regularly is something I have to work on, because o my metabolic problems, and truthfully I think it is helping. I'm not shaking. TBH it seems a bit of a faf to go and get 8 cashew nuts (today's afternoon snack) out of the cupboard and into a teeny bowl, to go and sit down and eat, but I'm following it to the letter. Is also fair to say that though a little hungry I do have lots of energy today. the first stage lasts 14 days, the book is called ''How to lose a stone in 10 days'' and I'm hoping to lose four lbs this month!0

I gained half a pound this week which I'm not surprised about. Actually I'm pleased it wasn't more as heve been a major piggy this week.
It all started last Wednesday on my birthday which we went out for a meal to celebrate, lots of wine and 3 courses, chocolates for a present which DH kindly helped eat. Curry take away, eccles cakes, also baked 3 lots of biscuits too over the course of the week, oh and a kebab. Blimey! At least it's all out of my system now! Here's to a heathier week.0 -

It was lovely thanks, the bride was beautiful and it all went perfectly.lostinrates wrote: »I was really adherant until Easter monday when I had a hunger that seemed impossible to satisfy. In the cool light of today I can see it was a stress thing...but hey ho.
I'm actually finding the metformin is making things harder...I'm getting the shakes really badly at around lunch time...I hope that settles down soon!
Anyway, I felt I neded jazzing up and remotivating so I'm going to do ''the doctors diet'' for a fortnight....its not about following a fad, its about feeling motivated for me, and jazzing things up. and satisfying a grapefruit craving!! Also about trying to help my sugar levels. The only thing is its quite a lot of food, for me, anyway. And the larger meal is in the evening. But never mind, I'm giving it a go
What's the doctor's diet LIR? It's strange that you report feeling hungry yet energetic, others have reported a link between the two. I know that when I eat slightly too little, I feel energetic too, but when I overeat I feel totally sluggish.
Thanks for all the kind words my fellow challengers. I had my WI yesterday morning - 136lbs! 0.3lbs gained since last week, this is turning into a trend! But it will be arrested as of now! I will pin my goals onto the fridge for motivation, and start trying on clothes that I *know* don't fit me atm. I have also signed up for yet another free WW trial via Quidco.

Hello all
I've had a mixed week, somedays very disciplined, but others where the lure of chocolate has just proved too much. My down fall is the very first mouthful of choc - once I've had just one tiny taste I can't stop until I've eaten *way* too much. For the time being I'm not going to eat any chocolate at all. Having said that, they're not actually my easter eggs anyway, they are the children's, so I shouldn't be eating them in the first place :rotfl:
My plan is to weigh-in on Saturday morning.
Nicky

Thanks for the idea Tara, I'm going for fitting into a gorgeous Monson 40s style dress that I was supposed to wear for my friend's wedding last year :rotfl:I want a perfect body, I want a perfect soul, I want you to notice when I'm not around0
