I have just looked and you will not have to go through mediation because of the issues with domestic violence. Sorry i probably panicked you, I had forgotten about your circumstances and feel really bad now. I looked on the BBC news story about it:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-12863858
I had mediation 12 months back and have been told that I have to go again. Ridiculous as I am almost divorced. Decree Nisi will be made absolute on 13th May, but money will take longer to sort out :(

  • tbh it did make me panic....several frantic calls to my solicitor and I still haven't go tthrough....but went online and found out that it is only if it is contested. Which mine isn't as there is nothing to contest about. The house is mine, in my sole name and my solicitor has a letter confirming that they will agree to a clean break agreement. We have no children and no joint finances. (Just joint debts in my sole name though :mad:)

I am seriously thinking of coming away from my solicitor and dealing with divorce online. I have used these in a previous divorce and wanted to use them this time and said that if he paid it was £685 for a clean break agreement. !!!!!! told his strumpet...who emailed me to tell me that I would not be depriving them of what !!!!!! was entitled to as that was for their future life together  poor deluded woman !! So he pressed ahead and got his own solicitor then found out that he isn't entitled to anything and all of a sudden he is now out of work and can't afford to pay for the court fees !! Yeah whatever ....

I could just download the divorce papers myself and then file them at court which would just mean I would need to pay for the court fees.......I have ordered a new marriage certificate at £9.25 cheaper than asking the solicitor to write and ask for it back.....

S'pose I could always sell my 18ct engagement ring and 18ct wedding ring to raise cash for the divorce :rotfl::rotfl:

Payday tomorrow so loads of number crunching to get my head around....

You need to get divorced, so I would get your papers online. Might be a good idea to sell your rings and get rid of the bad memories, unless you are attached to them. I really like my engagement ring and am finding it hard to part with. I was offered £85 for it, but decided it is not worth it yet.

I couldn't agree more. :T The last couple of days I have been thinking about it over and over again...I have an almost new cooker which I bought just 4 months ago so that should fetch around £200. Plus I have various other items that I want to sell including a large 8 berth tent and the various camping stuff that goes with it...so that should fetch £200 + for that and my rings. I know that they might not fetch a lot :( but I guess its better in my pocket than sat in a jewellery box and as I don't have any particular attachment to them then its no big loss...and is just me closing the door on that chapter....:) My OH said that he didn't know why I still had them  and tbh I couldn't even give him an answer...so that is how irrelevant they are to me.

As I have been unpacking things at the new house, I have come across some empty perfume bottles, pandora boxes etc I have a couple of charms that !!!!!! bought me as they are now £60 each now then I should be able to raise £30 each for them....plus various other bits and pieces so will be ebaying like mad :) when we get moved into the house with the sole purpose of the divorce fund coffers :j....hopefully in the meantime !!!!!! will have filed and by then the money raised can go off the debts.....:T

On the :money:I have lost track of NSD or LSD....as the house is taking shape really well that has been our main focus this week and now it is all shiny and new. :) I have cleaned all the windows, taken down the curtains and got rid of them, vacuumed the carpets within an inch of their lives....scrubbed floors, cleaned all the cupboards out again in the kitchen and just freshened the whole place up.

The house feels really nice and we can't wait to move back in. Even my cat is a lot happier too and jumped up on the sofa last night to sit on OH's lap...which is totally unheard off....:) she's not a people person kinda cat....but even she was purring away :)

The lounge/stairs and landing are finished, so is the porch, our bedroom and the bathroom just needs an extra coat of paint which will be done this morning, although need to go to IKEA and buy a new shower rail and curtain....so that will be about £30. Will need to have cast iron will in there as I just love their lights/bedding/pictures/candles etc and could spend a fortune.....:o

Still no news on the job front  and I have decided not to stress about it anymore and just accept what ever will be, will be. If the funding comes through for the secondment place I will stay there and that will then be a bonus :j but if it ends then it is my time to move on and find something new....:)

On a positive note though I have spotted another job which is £21k for 4 days :):) a week.....covering maternity leave for 9 months...I have decided to apply for it and have rung for the application pack. It means travelling a little bit further than my secondment but not much more......plus its £800 more a year and I get to have a day off in the week.....:T.

Its a lovely sunny day here :) so I am off to get dressed try and tame the hair into something resembling normal and will nip off to Ikea before it gets too busy....

No new on the bike front - its taken a back seat as OH wants to get the house sorted out first and has said that this is more of a priority than his bike :kisses2:

As for OH's brother he came out of hospital yesterday and is now at home recovering....things are looking good and we are hopeful for the future for him....:T

My dad is looking very pale at the moment and I am still quite worried about him, :o he hasn't heard anything back from the hospital with regards his angiogram and mum is saying it will come through that he has to go on Friday as they have planned to go away for the bank holiday....(my sister is taking mum and dads car/caravan and her hubby is driving theirs down so its less stressful). My dad wasn't grumpy at all think it was more like mum was in whinge mode....:rotfl:

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend whatever you decided to do

Hi BF, sounds like you have been very busy indeed - it will all be worth it!

And great news on putting together the fighting fund too :) I had a big tidy up over the weekend and have added a few things to my ebay list as well.

Glad to hear OH's brother is coming along and hope your dad keeps improving too :)

I have kept my 2nd engagement ring too (from the wedding that didn't happen!), I am not quite sure about parting with it yet, it's really beautiful and so unusual. I would love to wear it just as a beautiful piece but I think it will be a bit too raw for a while yet.

Sadly I lost my engagement ring and wedding ring from my first marriage - this still brings tears to my eyes now as they were so beautiful. Lost them shortly after we moved house and things went downhill from there - think it was an omen!

The bike will be waiting for when you are both ready :D

good luck with the final push on the house! I am sure you have posted it already but when is moving in day? :)
  • Hiya Peeps

Have had a lovely weekend. We went to Argos and bought the shower curtain and pole, then we decided that we would go to F&B's for breakfast as it was £10 for two including unlimited coffee/tea.....:) was my treat as felt guilty getting OH up early :A

I made a comment of that I had forgotten to take my medication whilst we were sat waiting for breakfast to arrive, OH commented that I seemed very relaxed and very smiley and on the whole so much happier on the Saturday than I did on the Friday (I was shaking and feeling really anxious before I set off for work). OH said that he thought that the new medication was making me worse and tbh I never associated it with that - just thought it was over the job situation. Since then I haven't taken the second lot of medication and do feel more at ease than the previous week....:T either that or I have accepted that there is nothing else I can do with regards to the secondment and what will be, will be :)

After breakfast we returned the extra wallpaper back to B&Q got a refund of £15 ....decided to look for a new bathroom light but couldn't find one that was suitable so ended up at Ikea afterall :o thankfully with the sunshine it was fairly quiet :T and we went through the self service checkout so no hassles there.

The bathroom look brilliant and didn't need another coat of paint so we decided that we would bleach all the tiles to try and cure the mildew once and for all....bathroom scrubbed - all nice and shiny but resulted in me bleaching my new shirt.... (note to self do not use bleach !!! :o )

OH put the new shower rail up, and the white and black filagree design shower curtain....OH then fitted the new light fitting in the bathroom, both really chuffed with how well it looks :T for a relatively small expenditure too. :money: I have already bought grey and black towels for the flat along with the bath mats too.

Yesterday OH said that he would take me out for a 'proper' breakfast.....bleurghh.....can have it as breakfast 'special' which comes with CHIPS  needless to say just stuck to the plain breakfast....Then we decided that we would try and find a duvet set to go with the 'new' bedroom.....saw a couple of ones which were okay but nothing that either of us felt the 'wow' factor with.....

We then decided as it was a nice day that we would go for a walk in the country estate near to us.....thought that we would have a coffee sat in the sunshine....but somehow that transfered into us sitting outside our soon to be 'local' pub....then went back to the house and we were just sat on the sofa talking and relaxing.....now as its a big 4 seater sofa...I kinda sprawled out on it but was half propped up by OH....the sun was shining through the window and I felt so relaxed....so much so fell asleep :o, this afternoon drinking malarky aint for me.....felt totally zonked....:rotfl:and I only drank 2 halfs !!! What a wimp....lol

We then went back to the flat which if I said was 5 minutes away by car then I am not exagerating....two different parts of the village but both very, very different...OH then stood and ironed whilst I watch brassed off....I made late dinner/supper and then just enjoyed a bottle of wine....:)

Today I did take my rings to the jewellers :T.....they have said that unfortunately they are not buying diamond rings :o and would only give me the scrap value of the gold:( ....and as for my wedding ring I would probably get a £10 for it....so I left with all the jewellery I went in with....My friend on the other hand walked out with £165 and one of her engagement rings as that was diamond and was chuffed to bits....

One is a square cut 18ct white gold princess cut diamond and the 18ct white gold wedding band to go with it. I then also has a 19 stone diamond cluster which was bought for my 21st birthday. Plus a diamond solitaire in yellow 9ct gold...and also a 5 diamond 18ct white gold princess cut set ring I thought I would at least get enough for the court papers....:( but not to worry....

Have done some more shuffling around in my bank accounts and have transferred my monthly maintenance and child benefit into the divorce fund which pushed it up to £200 and if push came to shove have also got £300 which I was going to use for my car tax and insurance.....but as long as I can pay £125 for my car tax can put the insurance onto a monthly payment scheme......I know I will pay slightly more but at least it gets me rid of !!!!!!.....that just leaves me a £10 short of the papers....and can get that relatively easily.....:T:T

OH last night asked me what size ring was it that I took??? Have always wanted a romantic proposal ya know where the guy pulls out the ring box and kneels on one knee and asks the woman to marry him....:) just a die hard romantic :smileyhea:love: at heart.

On the :money:front....paid another loan payment so that is now down to £1258.67 and I have another £51.60 to come off when my expenses are paid.....:T Just need to update signature....

Sometimes it hard to let go of a ring that you particularly like, I tried putting it on the other hand, but for me it just brought back bad memories so would rather not look at it.....

Sadly I lost my engagement ring and wedding ring from my first marriage - this still brings tears to my eyes now as they were so beautiful. Lost them shortly after we moved house and things went downhill from there - think it was an omen!
Did you not claim for them on your insurance? As you would have been covered, whilst they couldn't have replaced them you would have had something different which you could have worn....something that was special just to you...

The bike will be waiting for when you are both ready :D

good luck with the final push on the house! I am sure you have posted it already but when is moving in day? :)

Thanks for the good wishes both are on the mend OH's brother is now recovering at home......

My dad is still awaiting his angiogram. :o Think they will have to chase this up as they are now going away on Thursday morning until after the Bank Holiday and don't want the appointment sat on the mat awaiting them coming home and then up missing it altogether

I have one ring that is very, very special. It was bought a number of years ago by my first husband - my DS and DD's dad. I wanted to hold onto it so that I could past it to my DD and for it to past it on down through the family. I originally lost the diamond out of it :o and for a number of years it sat in my jewellery box minus the diamond, someone told me that I could claim from my house insurance as it would be covered. So I did and a new diamond was installed - when it came back I cried...:T:T it was a brilliant cut white diamond and I never thought that they would be able to replace it back to what it was...but they did and it was amazing....so for that reason I am keeping it for my daughter :)

We are moving back into the house on Friday :T.....although have been in touch with BT and we cannot get our line re-connected until the 3rd of May  so no internet or phone line.....:( but apart from that everything else is going to plan.....:)

OH is also planning to get his bike done over the bank holiday...I will stay at home and unpack etc....and on the Tuesday is hoping to get it taxed and tested ready for the 29th and the weekend away :)

Hope everyone is having a lovely day
