My phone call went like this.
'Can I open the 3.5% flexible Isa on the phone'.
'Yes - this year or next'
'Next'
Then it was all done.
At no point was anything less than 3.5% mentioned and at no point was it questioned.
You have me questioning now what they hell I have opened! Probably entered the phone number wrong and just bought a pension or something!
The A&L Flexible ISA @ 3.5% has account numbers beginning with 897 or 898. Check what your account number is and you will know what you've opened. Their other ISA, Direct ISA Issue 6 @ 2.75% above £9000, has account numbers beginning with 066 or 0670 -
We also had an isa with them from a few years ago, I moved it to there fixed isa 2yr term at 3.5% there may be better out there but not by much? The measure of love is love without measure0

Same questions - third go - different person. Still not able to open now for next tax year.
Giving up now!
Same for my partner. So phoned up, said it was for this tax year instead, answered the questions etc... However I don't think it will be funded in time... she's very forgetful0 -

Transferred my existing Issue 3 into an Issue 6. Already filled this years allowance.
Opened the 3.5% flexible today for next year.
Will run them side by side. Will add the 5.1k allowance to the 3.5%.
It is a shame they don't allow transfers in but I might as well maximise it all by new money in that and existing in the Issue 6. Seems the most logical.
Aren't Direct ISAs issue 3 and issue 6 both paying 2.75%?0 -
If anyone ever needed another reason not to use Santander, this Flexible ISA stuff is it. Different answers from different people each time you call, online applications pulled, massive backlogs in branches. Why/how could you ever trust them?0

jh2009, sam37, essexmate and other lucky people who managed to get through to santander and open the 2010/11 cash isa- can you please confirm: what was the interest rate that you will get for the 2010/11 cash isa- 3.5% or 3.2%? I went into the branch today and was told I could only get 3.2% for the 2010/11 year. Unfortunately I have used up my entire 2009/10 allowance with another isa provider so will miss out on 3.5% with santander..
I was quoted 3.5% on several occasions during my conversation. The guy specifiically said several times "3% over base rate".
I asked several times making it clear i was not intending to pay in until 6th April 2010.
So..... My understanding is this rate is guaranteed for 12 months from yesterday.
I will ask though when the 6th april comes up. I will also see what they send in the post this week.
Of course the guy on the phone may have messed up but he told me our call was recorded, so if it was would be clear evidence of me asking him several times about the rate!0 -

Strangely enough, for the postman to know where to deliver it, he will need my address. Which will be exactly the same if I phone up.0 -
Hi
I posted earlier today that I'd opened 2010/2011 account at 3.5% with no problems over the phone (at least none that have yet reared their head!). Several posters later said they were unsuccessful over the phone.
Perhaps the issue might be different call centres? I spoke to a Scottish lady from my landline. I went to my sisters a couple of hours later, told her about the account and she decided to open an account also. She rang from her mobile and was directed to drop the first zero. She spoke to a gentleman who sounded Indian (?) and he told my sister she couldn't have the account even though she told him her sister had opened same that morning. Anyway she re-dialled from her landline and got through to someone who had a Scottish accent and opened her account no problem
HTH if the rate is still available tomorrow to those that want it0
