Confirmation for staff in branch can be found on their intranet on the Branch Employee Portal. This explains that although adverts are saying 3.2%, if customer opens ISA before April 5th for tax year 2009-2010, also must fund at least £1 then they will get 3.5%. The info also says something along the lines that 'the customer will therefore get a higher rate than they expected when asking about the 3.2% ISA'.0

Went into my local A&L branch in Huddersfield yesterday and managed to successfully apply for a Flexible ISA. Checked online today and the account has already been set up. I'm just wondering though after reading some of the other posts on this thread about the actual interest rate I've got. All the leaflets and posters in the branch were highlighting the 3.5 per cent rate but I'm starting to wonder if it was actually 3.2 per cent that I ended up with. Anyway that I can check?
Edit. According to this web link, which allows you to check the interest rate of your account, I've got the 3.5 per cent rate. Happy days. You enter the first three digits of your account and it tells you the interest rate for it.

Flexible ISAs @ 3.5% have account numbers beginning with 897 or 898.
If your account doesn't start with either of these three numbers, You can check your interest rate by going to this A&L web page and enterering the first three digits of your ISA account number.

I'd actually just found that link at almost exactly the same time that you posted your link. Cheers anyway!0 -
When logging in to A&L Internet Banking, there is an advertisement for the 3.5% ISA, but when you click this it then advertises a 3.2% rate. If I opened now, would I get told my interest rate was 3.2% and then be pleasantly surprised to find it's actually 3.5% (previous poster mentioned something about this)? If not do they have to honour the 3.5% rate as that's what's been advertised ;-)0

I got a poor service
I signed up beginning of March, no emails no form they sent. Rang up 2 and a bit weeks later to chase it up, several calls later I got told that we need to go to local branch to show them ID (due to money laundering) even though we bank with them
When I went to local branch I told them what happened I gave them the ISA application number, they told me it means nothing to them, they said I need to open a new ISA account, which we did there and then
The same thing is happening to me! I signed up for the 3.5% ISA near the beginning of March, and 2 and half weeks later I've heard nothing. I was going to ring them tonight and throttle them, but if I'll have to travel 25-odd miles to my nearest branch anyway, I might just as well save myself the phonecall and just go to the branch.
Tell me, did they still allow you to open the 3.5% ISA, despite that offer no longer being available (supposedly)? I hope so, as it would seem massively unfair that you had applied online well before they withdrew the offer, but they wouldn't give you the interest rate. Please tell me you got it!0 -
I have just opened a flexible ISA at the Alliance & Leicester - it starts with the right numbers and the girl said that although Santandor had removed the rate that they had not!
All of the notices still said 3.5% - so I am more than happy!Have only won small things - amounting to just over £100. A lot better than nothing though! :j :hello:
October winnings - bag of organic compost and 2 Grolsch glasses :T
Number 451 - winnings to date - about £1000
