Pipkin - the length of time the hip will last shouldn't be a factor, it'll improve the quality of your life, and that is waht they should consider.... i think they last about 10 years, and although the surgery is big, you will feel soooo much better after you've got one... (acording to NICE guidance they cannot deny you due to your age...).
Thanks for that nimbo.
The consultant has said they are reluctant to operate and will control with medication at this stage, only they have to keep increasing medication as it is still painful to even walk.
I do have spinal problems which also adds to everything but, because the new hip could only last 10 years - and I am only 38, they do feel that we should wait until absolutley necessary.
I am seeing them again in May, so will discuss the situation then. There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter0 -
What is a 'graze box'? I'm most intrigued

Have a look at https://www.graze.com.
My box arrived this afternoon and the contents are very nice, but it's not worth paying £2.99 for.

sistercas - I've done pilates. It's very much like Yoga (I even think some of the moves are yoga based). You think it's not going to be that much hard work but it is LOL!!! I recommend it - just wish I make more of an effort to keep it up

Just picked up DH presetation packs from the printers and picked him up a document holder so he will look all professional. He wouldn't take a bag as he doesn't want to look like a girl LOL:rotfl: He also has the suit, tie shirt and shoes. It will probably be most of the day so I will try and post how he has done tomorrow evening. They are giving him lunch, so hopefully thats a good sign:D

Afternoon all
Sorry not had time to read thread yet so hugs to all.
Absolutely shattered again today after a day's gardening, kids worked hard but could see they were flagging towards the end. We have just the morning to finish off tomorrow, should be done no problems as long as they are in the mood, although I'm bribing them with a free afternoon off so should work! The council have taken away almost 2 tonne of garden waste, the garden looks so much bigger now!!
I really fancy proper chips for tea tonight but I've just realised that I only know of one chippy in the town where I'm living, and it's not open in the evenings! It's a town centre/cafe one. I may go for a drive to find them. There is a chippy in the next village over but it's a 15min drive away.
I'm currently watching a dodgy TV movie on 5, featuring !!!!!! and Barry van Dyke! It's basically a Diagnosis Murder-esque tv movie! I'm gonna curl up and watch it and read same time
Have a good evening all

Hopefully you will get some comfort from having the physio, sistercas.
I honestly don't know if you can only have so many replacements. It is something I will have to ask them.
They put my mum's op off for a long time, then opted for the hip resurfacing but she is now waiting for the full replacement, which should be within the next 12 weeks. There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. Can you point me in the right direction for this app please?!
Certainly! Its called Home Routines, and unfortunately isn't one of the freebies, but for that feeling of being nice and organised it's given me so far, I'd say it's weel worth a couple of £ :rotfl:

Hi Pipkin
These theories on replacement joints really frustrate me, 10 years ago they were few and far between, now they want to delay them as they con only do so many and want to ensure you walk for longer. In another 10 years they might be a better solution which can last 40 years, and people want to walk now not when they are old and past it. Sorry rant over.
