Did you get the tar off stroppyjock?
  • kinda! got advice to use petrol on a rag and it really works well, however it would mean doing a wee bit at a time and washing the residue off straight away with soapy water, probably a whole day job and unfortunately I've not got the time today :( Tried WD40 as well and that seems to work well to, so first dry sunny day I will be out giving it a go!

    Morning All

All well in DG towers, the SC is on with some YS stewing beef, some beef stock, a beef Burginion (sp) mix fromthe cupboard (use up) with a little red wine, mushroom and carrots. Just remembering I have some peppers in the fridge so may go and add one of those too. All go here, our drains are blocked up, fortunately I do take the drain cover out with YW as ours are not adopted yet. I reported it yesterday, they were due by 6, I called at 5.50 and they said they were running late but would call shortly, I called again at 8.30pm and they said they had tried calling me at 4.30pm and I was not answering - someone is telling porkies as I had not left the house. Now due before 1pm. All this is winding Mrs Bucket next door to me as I hadn't told her I had called and she waits for everyone to do it for her! New KS bed due tomorrow I ordered in Jan in the Sainsburys half price sale and delayed delivery until I returned. Just added old one to Freecycle so will see if someone will be interested, it isn't in bad condition, but we were ready to replace. Also having annual Alarm service this morning. Have to fit the jobs in when we can :rotfl:

:grouphug: to those having a hard time at the moment.

Thanks for the advice re rail tickets peeps :T

We'll be coming from King's Cross in London so it's a fair distance. How long does the bus take from Middlesborough kezlou? We're planning to use that bus to get along to Staithes and Hinderwell so I can tend the family graves (a little morbid, but hey :o).

It's not morbid on the slightest, lovely sights round there :)

Okay not sure how long form whitby to staithes.
but just checked this out on traveline.
    Mon - Sat
    93 - takes 1hour
    5 - 1 hour and 30 minutes (changes to 5A after 6pm)

    Sun
    93 less than hour
5A (now the new X56) about an hour and half

I used this to find the times:-

Hello Sunnyday - of course! The recipe I use is here:http://www.grouprecipes.com/sr/21257/liver-cake-for-dog/recipe/
If you google chicken liver cake you get lots of choices though. I chop mine up into little cubes and use it for training as my Puppy-Dog loves it so much it's a real motivator. It freezes really well too.

    Gemma,

I just had a look - do you put the garlic in? It gives a whole new meaning to dog breath!

Bitsy - now I'm jealous!!!! I wanna do a tap class *stamps foot*!!!! I've been meaning to get back into ballet but DH and I have got into the habit of going out on Friday nights, so perhaps I should ring the school and see if there's a tap class instead. Prepare yourself for the cost of the shoes though, I think my last pair (bought about 12 years ago) were close to £35

Anyway, apologies for the long waffly post (am feeling a bit better as you might have guessed as I can't stop talking) have a lovely day, OS or otherwise, hugs in abundance xx

I've rung my local dance shop and a pair of basic tap shoes cost £22.99 although I confess I am watching a brand new pair on Ebay which if no one else bids could potentially cost £19. Not sure I want anything too fancy at the moment - but then again I didn't have anything fancy as a kid so would I really need something more than a basic pair :rotfl:
Glad you are feeling better :T

Sorry about the miserable post last night. I have decided to be much more positive and here are the reasons why I am grateful today
    • I have four beautiful healthy children
    • A fantastic husband who loves me and I love him
    • Time to spend baking, crocheting and looking after my family
    • My little seeds are all popping through on the windowsill
    • Managed a full day eating healthy yesterday and no rubbish.
Just felt the need to remind myself how lucky I am really. Ok the money situation is bad but we will get by one way or another. Going to take the time to count my blessings every day:D

That is a lovely post :D:T It can be hard at times but I do love a positive mental attitude :o

Stroppyjock - I confess I've used Autoglym stuff from Halfords to get tar off - it was bought years ago and with a white car boy does it need it sometimes :o

emilyka - Welcome to the daily thread. Hope you can stick around :j

pipkin - hope the DD's are feeling better soon (and not growing up too fast ;)). How silly that they won't consider you for a new hip. How much pain and discomfort does one have to be in before you are considered a candidate :mad: Can you appeal their decision?

NPM - feel free to moan. Better out than in I say ;) as for chicken I confess I've never jointed a raw chicken in my life but I do get shed loads of meat from a freshly cooked bird. I also find the warmer the bird is the more I can pick off easily. I do this most weekends and then freeze the surplus meat for later in the week. I know it's not what you planned but I hope your tea party with DS is fun and that perhaps when things are slightly less sticky you can celebrate in style xx

I really should be doing some dusting but I can't be bothered :o Been up and on the go all morning and I am tired :o Took kids for a walk over the local fields. VERY muddy and wet but they love it! Thankfully had a spare pair of wellies for mindee as I think his mum would have had a heart attack at seeing the state of shoes after walking in stuff like that.
It's my dad's birthday today so will be going up Mr S after school with my mum to pick a cake for him. Not sure why she didn't make one - might be a last minute decision. Going to loiter there until he comes home so the kids can sign happy birthday to him :rotfl:

Arrrrrrrgh am fighting the urge for some chocolate........

Have a good afternoon - it's been a lovely day so far, bit sunny and quite warm :D

snoozer - I do indeed! I've never particularly noticed bad breath from mine (although he does get a bit of wind when he has CLC!). I've heard that garlic is a natural deterrent to fleas. Not sure if that's true or not as we deflea ours regularly anyway. If you're REALLY worried, I think I have a recipe for doggie breath mints somewhere...

    Good afternoon all!

Having a gander on here as there's not a lot doing at work placement today - don't worry the boss is on his Facebook showing me pics of his adorable DD so I won't get into any trouble :rotfl:

Stroppy Jock I know you've gone to work now but I hope you'll read this when you're back. My Dad (a very keen car & caravan polisher ;)) swears by a product called Mer website here He was reccommended it by a friend who had driven Eddie Stobart lorries for all of his working life, and as we all know they have to be cleaned & polished daily :) It removes anything as it polishes and brings the car & van up to showroom standards. It's expensive but the last £30 bottle he bought lasted 2 years so very money saving in the long run :money: HTH

Thanks for all the lovely comments re DS1. I'm not 100% happy myself with him enlisting but I really think that he'll find the stability he needs in the forces. The discipline will also do him the power of good :rotfl: I shall hand him over to his Sergeant Major telling him that I've done what I can it's his turn now lol! The benefit for my daughter is that if they do stay together & she goes on overseas postings with him she has the English NNEB certificate (they call it a DCE now though) which is always in demand abroad for childcare work :T

I picked up some lovely chicken tikka pieces while I was out today and am going to make more yummy coleslaw to put with them & baked potatoes. If life's too short to stuff a mushroom it's too short today for me to stuff a potato :D

NPM I take Amitriptyline at 50mg and find that by taking it at 8pm I am tired by bedtime but not too zonked the next day. Chin up chick xxx

I hope that everyone is having a good day xx
