    Update.

I sent them the exact wording for the advert and this is the next response that I have received back. They are still insisting that I had to introduce a friend.

Thank you for your email enquiring about IPOD for joining Sky online.

I’m sorry this issue has caused you concern and hope my reply below clarifies the position for you.

I've checked your friend account and can confirm that your friend account was activated on 26/03/2010. Please note that this offer will not be fully processed until the friend you introduced to Sky, has 28 days of successful installation and enablement of equipment.

You can expect to receive your IPod within 45 days of the new customer activation via recorded or special delivery.

It’s important that the customer is at home to receive their IPod Touch from the Royal Mail. If they are not then they will be left the usual delivery card by Royal Mail and they must make arrangements to collect within the set timeframe provided.
I hope this helps with your enquiry. Should you require any further assistance, please reply to the email address above or call our Customer Service team on 08442 41 41 41, where one of our advisors will be able to assist.
    Kind regards
    Sachin

  • I am having the same probem with sky customer services. Mainly because their customer service is rubbish.
I signed my parents up for sky tv/phone/broadband mainly to get this ipod offer, and wish I had not have bothered.
Its taken a month of emails and phone calls just to turn the phone line on, now we have another 15 days before broadband(tip - who ever you do speak to ask for their 'staff number' its places tracability to the individual and they tend to follow things through a bit better when they know your holding them responsible)
Thankfully the tv installation was quite simple but now have to send more emails to see whether or not Im going to get my ipod!
The deal i signed them up for was and i quote 'get an ipod touch when you introduce a friend to sky tv and i called 08442 411 466 to set it all up' no mention of vouchers too like some previous threads, maybe i should push for those too?!
It seems like sky have used the 'vouchers and ipod offer' under various guises which has consumers confused as well as their own staff! Good luck to all, would be great to hear from anyone who has actually received their ipod and/or vouchers!
  • Sky are currently the bain of my life, I only subscribed to their service on the basis that they were offering a free ipod touch and £25 voucher if I joined (note this is NOT related to a 'refer a friend' offer). I have saved online conversations with sky advisors confirming I would be eligible before I placed my order yet post installation, having spoken to customer services they know nothing about this particular incentive and I'm now stuck between a rock and a hard place. I've been told that once my sky card is activated there is a 30 day cooling off period yet you apparently don't find out for certain if you are to recieve an ipod until 45 days after, hummmmmmmmmmm how convenient! In other words after 45 days if I find out I'm not eligible which I'm predicting will be the case it will be too late to cancel!!

I have since sent an email to their complaints department to which I've recieved a generic response advising that my email has been passed to another department to deal with yet I'm still waiting to hear back, no doubt they are delaying their reponse in the hope that the 30 day period will pass and I then won't have a leg to stand on should I wish to cancel (which I most definitley would be doing if I don't get the ipod!)

All I want is a straight answer from Sky, I have the proof that I should qualify, I was told both verbally and in a chat window that the offer was valid and I would recieve the ipod so why now after they have my money are they refusing to help?!

    FIRST IMPRESSIONS ARE NOT GOOD!
  • I'm following this thread quite closely!! I also signed-up for the Sky HD package, fully expecting the vouchers and the iPod (wasn't it an iTouch on offer?). Without that 'sweetener' we wouldn't have bothered so they better honour the deal.

I was put onto the offer from Martin's weekly email, following his link to the Sky website. It would be somewhat 'reassuring' to see Martin comment on this thread, with his thoughts/ideas.

Well I've tried highlighting this thread to 'the team'. The contact info does state that they are quite busy and it may take a few days for them to get through all of the emails.

Will give it a few days and then try again.
  • Hi all,

We've been in touch with Sky and it has said the iPods take 28 days to be delivered. If you've still not received it in a few days please can you let us know here.
  • I've just called Sky again after they have failed to acknowledge or respond to my email asking for clarification regarding the offer. Nobody seems willing to help, it is unbelievable, I'm really worried that if I leave it 28 days then I literally have only 24 hours to ring and cancel (given the cooling off/cancellation period) is 30 days from the date it is installed. I keep getting asked the same question "Who did I refer", and when I explain that the offer doesn't relate to a referral only a subscription they have no clue what I'm going on about!

I'm going to call again on Monday if I still don't get a response from their complaints department!

  • Hallelujah, my response from Sky is as follows.... persistence obviously pays off with regards to this matter:

    Dear Miss XXXXXXXX
    Customer Account Number - XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Thanks for your email concerning the ipod offer with your Sky subscription.
I've noted your comments and am sorry to hear that you were not given correct information when you contacted our call centre.
Having checked our records, I can confirm that the ipod offer did go through correctly when you ordered the Sky service. This item will be with you within 45 days of the activation of the Sky service and will be delivered to you either by special or recorded delivery.
I hope this information has now resolved your enquiry. Should you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
    Yours sincerely
