Hi Everyone,
Apologies for not having a proper read through the past few days, just had a quick scooch through today's. Big ((hugs)) to all in need and :bdaycake: to any I may have missed.
Have had a very testing few couple of days, BIL has been gravely ill in hospital over the weekend and was very touch and go early this week. Thankfully he is off life support now and seems to be making recoveries in the right direction, but it's looking like we are going to have to get the docs to agree to keep he in for the forseeable to make sure he is getting the proper help he needs. (This isn't the first time he's been in in recent months, but the problem is getting worse each time.)
Fingers crossed a positive result comes out of this all in the long run.
Needless to say with all this going on, normal life has completely gone out of the window: today is the first 'normal' day I've had this week and I've been trying to do as little work as possible to see if I can catch up with where I am up to on my 'home' jobs:
OS has completely escaped my life and as a consequence I have already had a takeaway this week and have no bread in the house, the washing machine is rapidly disappearing under the pile of clothes that have been dumped in front of it, my budget for the month has been completely jettisoned and I have no idea where I'm up to... I'm feeling a bit  at the moment! So I've decided to just dig in tonight, not to worry about the grocery/shopping/house budget for the rest of this month and to start afresh for April. The washing will take as long as it takes and the bread will be done for tomorrow morning. DD and DS need some Mummy & Daddy time tonight so I'll be leaving work a little early tonight [I'm such a good employee at the moment! NOT!], and then start my tasks.
On the plus side of the weekend - before all this stuff started, I managed to bulk-buy and freeze all my meat for the next month or so (maybe longer). Good job I defrosted the freezer the other week! And as Sistercas mentioned, my RHS pack turned up last week too :j
Hopefully chat to you all again in the morning.

I have been using a mobile dongle for the past 7 weeks......OH said when I came in from quilting that there was a red light on the box, I unplugged it and waited a couple of minutes and then reconnected it and BINGO internet at last, the dongle can go into early retirement and we will no longer have to share, we can both go on the internet at the same time.

Got my veg box
Well more a veg net! I got the medium one with potatoes and got.....
a white cabbage (hope it tastes as nice cooked..snaffled a bit while I was chopping it
)
a mahoosive swede
4 onions
6 carrots
3 baby leeks
a red pepper
a thing of celery (what is that called? a bunch?)
and about 20 ish potatoes
for £9.50 delivered - i'm guessing money wise its a lot more expensive but I'm going for taste, freshness and 'shelf' life. See how we get on!
I also got a small fruit bag which contained 2 big bananas, 3 oranges and 5 apples - that was £4.50 and I don;t think its good value for money ....and I don't eat fruit so I don't care as much about how that tastes :rotfl:
White cabbage is the first to be trialed - being served with mash potato, corned beef and onion panaculty, and sweetcorn.....with lots of pepper on it.
I'm excited about cabbage....I really need to get back to work......:o
Edited to add priced it up at Mr A's on line and the veg would have cost £8.50 there - so not that much more expensiveClimbing back on the OS wagon after a short vacation to Recklessness

JC what is corned beef and onion panaculty?? I love corned beef
Probably sounds a lot grander than it is! Fry onions in a little oil, add chopped up corned beef. I usually throw in a little dried thyme and some worcestershire sauce and then either crumble in a couple of oxo cubes or I like the bisto best gravy granules and add hot water to the pan and then let it simmer away for about 20 minutes. season with a little salt if needed and some pepper.
This HAS to be served with mashed potato - its the law
I think everyone has slight variations on what they call corned beef dishes - we call corned beef hash boiled potatoes and onions mashed up with corned beef mixed through....again law states this must be served with tomato sauce...brown sauce is acceptable....just.
But then I've done sauted potatoes, onions, corned beef and baked beans with fried egg on top and called that corned beef hash too!
Some say I make it up as I go along .......:cool:Climbing back on the OS wagon after a short vacation to Recklessness
