OS Daily Thread - Wednesday 24th March

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 24th March. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning lovely OS-ers!
StroppyJack - Good to have you with us and hope you will post again today!
JackieG - Never bored with hearing doggie stories, even if I am a cat person at heart!
redruby - Good luck with B & Qs head office. I had a real problem with them a few years ago and was fobbed off for months. We have not shopped there again because of it, but maybe the H&S visit will make them take notice. Well done on following through with it
esmf - Hope the new programme carrys on working for you? Tell us more about it? Can't get more old style than good parenting.
joyfull - a size 16 is hardly big! And yes, I personally would just work on your fitness if you want to and your shape may well change as you tone up, even if your weight doesn't (muscle weighing more than fat). As long as you are fit then being a tiny bit overweight is not a major problem.
joyfull - hate to be the harbinger of doom, but those shoots are only the start!! I have been battling with my bamboo for 15 yrs. It is great feng shui being at the corner of the house and looks and sounds great but it just wants to take over the entire garden.
Celyn - It's nice that you are so considerate of the Tescos' packers!
Hope your project goes well, it sounds really interesting!
Lowesy - Just be patient with yourself, it takes longer than you think to get over these things and if work is a bit too much then talk to your boss. Not sure how much time you get off over Easter but you will get a break then which I hope will help.
Pippa - bamboo in pots is the way to go as you can keep it controlled then. They do a wonderful black bamboo too which is very dramatic with the green leaves.
Ladyshopper - I love hearing about peoples cats. Your new one sounds in very good health. My old lady is 16 but she can't jump anywhere these days.. we have to leave the draws of the bedside cabinet open so she can use them like a step ladder to get on the bed.

Tristan is doing as well as he can be. Michelle is almost recovered from the accident which is good news.
My Sainsburys order arrived with some huge gorgeous looking hunks of beef, pork and gammon, all half price. It feels nice having such a lot in the freezer and fridge to cook.
Tadpoles doing well but the fact they are cannibals is still a little startling!
Breakfast will be toast and peanut butter with marmite; lunch will be HM bread with ham and tomatoand Dinner is yet to be decided. Am thinking of something with rice.
With love, light and warm gentle
for anyone who wants one.

Morning Diva & all to follow
Glad Michelle is doing well and Tristan is holding his own.
Up early this morning, just about to make another cuppa and will attack the ironing, am having trouble keeping it under control at the moment. Think there is more ironing because of line drying, I will get through it though.
Then the rest of the day will be doing paperwork for the vat in the office. Not nice but will be a lovely feeling once its done.
Starting to looka at stuff to do in the Easter Holidays, DD wants to do a load of baking so thats ok
Have breaded chicken from M&S for dinner with jacket spuds and salad, not OS but they were on special and I used the giftcard I got for my birthday so essentially free!
The iron is calling me now - have a great day.x0 -
Morning all ((yaawwnnnn)) hope you are all well today. -1 here this morning but all the birds in full song and a nice bright morning when I was out scraping the gf car windscreen. Expensive day ahead, new rear tyres for the car
and a haircut. Have a nice day everyone. 0 -

Best get on, little one is up to something I fear and DH needs waking for work:cool:0 -
Morning ! stretches arms very loud and yawwwwns

Managed to buy all the unit for kitchen minus the worktops. Just need the landlady to cough up more money to pay for then
Its raining here and its sooo very grey. Just about a cuppa (first one of the day) and [STRIKE]kick out of bed[/STRIKE] wake.DH.up.

Good morning everyone

It seems to be damp & drizzly here too so the TD will be on duty today. The heating was also left on overnight accidentally :eek: I put it on at about 7pm as it was cool then went to bed to read at 8pm and promptly forgot all about it :rotfl: So NOT money saving!
Lunch today is a tuna pasta salad that I've put together with some leftover pasta - it looks great. I've got some kiwis and grapes for pud as well. Tea tonight is our once a fortnight chippy tea :T I'm really in the mood for a nice piece of fish I'll see how I feel later.
The kitchen & bathroom have been swished & swiped and the living room tidied up. I have to go shopping after work today as the fridge is looking bare! I have added lunch & baking things in readiness for the Easter holidays which start on Friday here. My Mum, the older 3 children and DH are going to keep an eye on DS3 so he shouldn't be too bored. I'll take him to the pictures and for a picnic over the bank holiday weekend too.
Well I'd better get myself ready for work and chase up whoever is still in bed.
Redruby Glad my Nana's yorkshire pudding recipe is working for you :T I swear by it and it's never failed me yet
Have a good day all & hugs if you need them xxx0 -
Stroppyjock Flylady flying! Over on the flylady thread. Encouragement to keep tidy at home. Just joined them this week!0

Morning all,
Looks a bit grey here this morning, we are due rain, which we could do without, its too wet everywhere.
Stroppyjock, I feel your pain, I had to have 4 new tyres on Sunday _pale_.
Off to work today, I have made a shepherds pie, which I will shove in the oven once I get home, just need to do some veg later, its the last of the 1/2 price lamb from sainsbugs, we have had six meals and sandwiches from it, not bad seeing as OH loves meat, and asks for a huge pile. I have ordered another one this week, and a bit of pork :T
Rubbish, recycling and garden waste to go out today, I need to do a wash when I get home tonight, and a hoover round.
I still have not heard from B & Q  despite me sending 2 E-mails, I shall keep on at them though, they have annoyed me now.
OK think thats me, have good days all xx0 -
 Morning all, a bit damp & grey up here, hopefully it will brighten up later.
Off to work soon, need to dyson the stairs & upstairs when I get home - those dust bunnies are gathering under our bed again
Also want to wipe & polish our bedroom furniture, I thought I was looking remarkably wrinkle-free until I realised that the dressing-table mirror is all fuzzy with dust
Lunch is y/s prawns & a y/s avocado, tea is y/s drumsticks that I cooked yesterday with some curry savoury rice that was scrummy when hot so hope its the same when cold
Just noticed a chap walking along our road carrying 2 pieces of 6ft long 2x4 timber... very bizarre, especially at this time of day and the way he was carrying them across his chest! I'm glad he missed my little car parked outside the house :rotfl:
:grouphug: to all who would like one
Lowesy is there any chance of borrowing someone to help you out in work? Or maybe farming some of your stuff onto someone who understands it?
Haribo, PenPin, Cranky :hello: Hope you are all OK?
Floss x0 -
morning all
Diva the black bamboo sounds lovely and exotic
Essex girl I find I have less ironing with line drying as the wind irons it for me
I just fold it up and put it away ( have to iron some stubborn stuff) i find when I dry inside its all wrinkly and I have to iron it all
went swimming last night for the first time in years , felt very self conscious in my cossie but once I was in the water i really enjoyed it , its been years since I have been swimming ( Im on a new fitness regime
- swimming once a year should suffice
)
have to stay in for a parcel today , so will give the house a scrub whilst I am waiting , still no washer and I have quite a bit of washing ( including the towels and cossies from last night) and its raining i think
have a good day everyone xx0
