Anyone had any good results with abbey at the moment?

I have had my application approved subject to income etc and the valuer is due out this week,

My advisor has said that abbey are saying there turning around mortgages from application to offer in 11days??

Ive heard some horror stories in the past, have they turned a new leaf!!??

Thanks
Matt

Chill out. House purchase can get very stressful, and you are only at the beginning of the process.

To be fair, I mortgaged an abbey and it took ages....Don't even get me started on the horror stories - they filmed 6 last year.

  • I'm in the same position. Application went in to them on Friday last week. Proof of income etc has been sent off to them. Was told 7-10 days as the current turn around.

7 to 10 days is for them to look at the post. They will then, in all likelyhood ask for something else which will again sit in a que for 7 to 10 days and on it goes.

Santander are having massive issues with the quality of service they offer though they don't seem to think there is an issue.

I'm not trying to scare monger here, just answer your question. Halifax has reduced it's repayment only trackers and now competes as do some others.

I have heard of some brokers getting clients to sign disclaimers before they recommend Abbey or A&L so that the client is confirming they are aware that it will be an administrative nightmare from start to finish.
    Happily an ex mortgage broker!

Abbey are now Santander, A & L are in process of move and expected to become Santander 28th April, this is why Abbey have got quicker and A&L slower

so its just a case of sticking it out then and see what happens end of next week which is when the offer 'should' be given!

My advisor is pretty good at keeping ontop of them, when he first did the DIP it declined it, so he rang them and put up an arguement and it turned out that all it was is that my address didnt show up on there drop down box! even tho im on the electoral role!

Exactly why DIPs are a complete waste of time!!

you can manually type the address into their system if it doesn't appear on the drop down box...I've never had this issue return a decline. Nor will Abbey review an application if it does get declined.

We have a mortgage application with Santander, and it seems to be nightmarish at the moment. It's been almost 4 weeks already, and the application hasn't made it to the underwriters yet although all info requested from us was supplied immediately. We're feeling very frustrated with them. It's worth mentioning that it took them 10(!!) days to get the initial letter in the post to us. Not impressed!!
