In your circumstance then you are right they are not managing things right. Your broker should be finding out exactly what is happening. What does he suggest you do? How long is he and you prepare to wait for them?
He phoned yesterday 29th, was told they were working on valuations carried out on 19th, mine was carried out on 25th so this takes it past Easter.
They had the valuation details in front of them all we needed was the figure and we would know if it was worth waiting or trying somewhere else.
What else can we do but they have kept stringing along all the way through, we have been close to pulling out on numerous occasions but then you suddenly hear from them or get through.0 -
Had first contact back from them today (7th working day). They want proof of deposit. I assume because I'm a FTB with a 47% deposit.
Biggest hassle with this is my money is sat in Nationwide eSavings based accounts at present, but when you print a statement there is nothing to actually show who owns the account. Phoned them and they said I have to go into a branch and get them to print out a report on headed paper.
I'll try and get this off to them tomorrow, but then rejoin the queue, assume 7-10 days before it is looked at again.
One bit of positive news was the guys I am buying from had their Abbey mortgage offer yesterday, that was 14 working days to process from application, and they also had one delay in the middle as the wife in on maternity leave at present.0 -
We have to be careful with the Santander Umbrella - A&L are definitely the worst. All operations at the moment are not as one.0

I try and steer clients towards the better service poviders. Surely better to accept a deal that might be £30 pm more in the knowlegde the lender will be efficient and deliver that vital mortgage offer?
Some clients insist on lowest rate but I make it abundantly clear of the potential service downside and warn them they may lose the house if the seller / agent becomes impatient.
I think this is the best way to deal with it.0 -

Just realised i made a new post on this very topical subject, so posting in here aswell...
Hi Guys, Wondering if anyone had any advcie on this. Am a current Abbey customer and have just put in an offer on a house. Have gone back to Santander / Abbey to complete a mortgage application, but this is where the fun begins...They run throuhg the initial application and the whole thing was coming down to the bare limit with regards to affordability. So the processed it. I chased them 5 days after the application was submitted and they told me the application was declined due to errors with the applicants. I asked them if there were any other areas for the decline i.e. affordability etc etc, but they said no just the applicants error. I spoke tot hem again on Monday, and they have now told me the application was declined due to affordability. However they have used government statistics for my outgoings and have added £110 onto the monthly mortgage repayments to work out affordability...Also i have told them i am paying off a credit card from the sale of my house, but they have still taken this as a monthly outgoing. Deos this make sense to anyone ???
Also i spoke to them direct last night stating that i will pay off the credit card AND pay off other debts to get the affordability in line, but again they have said they will take this into account, how the hell can they take something into account when it doesn't exist ???
Advice would be much appreciated....

Abbey have just launched some new market leading rates so they must either now be up to date, have a glut of new staff starting or simply not care how bad the situation gets!

Yr broker is *********.....Anyone who knows this outfit would never fax docs to them as they play this card everytime..in fact I think I have already posted the same info on this thread......An experienced adviser would have sent original docs by registered post to overcome this problem.....
By faxing they either say docs lost or can't read them............0
