The two "hard" searches will have been from the decision in principle and the full application which look like they've been done on the same day.
16 "soft" ones though....I don't know, I can't imagine a human being doing this so it must be a system thing, happily it won't affect your score if you need to apply for anything else though.
I know what you mean about messing with lives, I've had many conversations (not just with this shower to be fair) that have included "are you aware of the fact that there is a customer at the end of all this?".......sad but true.Happily an ex mortgage broker!0 -
whats baffling is they where all done on the same day!
will see what happens, but atleast im prepared to hear the worst now,0 -

Broker forums are rife with hacked off advisers and you see on this forum that some brokers are trying to find ways to avoid recommending them. This shouldn't happen.
We've just got our offer from A&L 14 days after applying, so not that bad.0 -
Did you apply direct to A&L or did you apply via a broker?0

I was very sceptical about going with Abbey but they worked out about £2000 cheaper for us over 3 years than any other so it was a no brainer! So far I have been pleasantly suprised -
We went to our broker on friday 12th February, applied online in the brokers (ours isnt a simple application as we have a house we rent out and the deposit is being trusted to us by my parents), got confirmation that the mortgage was approved on monday 15th Feb subject to valuation, valuation was done on 16th Feb, got confirmation on thursday 18th Feb that valuation was ok and our mortgage was approved! So full approval within a week! We have 75% LTV and a 3 year tracker at 3.09%0 -

Have you heard anything from the abbey yet?
I still have not had the valuation, its been chased a couple of times,
All they say is that the Case is agreed subject to survey and supporting documents matching what i have put on the application,
Which is all correct.
Should i be worrying that there going to turn me down?0 -
Matt, up until 9.30 this morning I would say Abbey were fantastic! We had our mortgage application fast-tracked and confirmed within a few days. I received the written confirmation of the mortgage offer on friday and noticed they had made an admin error and had the price of the house incorrect. I advised my financial adviser who in turn contacted them to amend their details.
This is where its all gone wrong. Someone at Abbey in all their wisdom decided that rather than just amending their paperwork they have started the mortgage application over again! They did a credit check again and because we had a credit check within the last few weeks they are now querying our credit rating..even though it was done by them!!! Now they are asking for last 5 weeks worth of payslips and unfortunatley my husbands line of work means he doesnt bring home the same amount each week and we have been advised this could be a major problem. I am now sitting here wondering if we will ever move.
Has anyone else come across this? Surely this is just all ridiculous and there must be something we can do??

Unfortunately Jayne this is pretty typical of Abbey at the moment. If your husband earns overtime or commission that are required for the mortgage to be affordable they will definitely come back and ask for 3 months worth.
To try and save yourself some time send in at least 3 months worth along with a ouple of p60's too. More info than they need is better than not enough.Happily an ex mortgage broker!0 -
Thank you...our Financial Adviser has 2 p60's and the last years worth of payslips so hopefully if we send more than required it will be ok. Im just so annoyed that it was an error on their part thats caused all this. If that hadnt have happened we would have the mortgage in place and be in a situaution where we are just waiting on the other people in the chain to catch up...makes me so mad!!0

No news at all so far.
I'm going via an adviser, will I receive any paper work direct or does everything go straight back to the adviser? Was hoping for at least some sort of confirmation they had received it, assume the adviser is on top of it... Will check with him tomorrow, 7-10 days was original time he gave me.0
