Enjoy your coleslaw Marion! Surely it will taste differently from your winning machine? And if it doesn't you could maybe £bay it? (the machine, not the coleslaw ..... or maybe ......)

BB I don't have a sticker for you but ....

    WOW

    you certainly deserve one!

Thanks, I just made a salad of red and white cabbage, courgette and an apple. I used about 1/8 of each of the cabbages, and 2 inches of courgette and a small apple - it made the biggest bowl of salad I have ever seen! A tblsp of vinegrette dressing stirred through and I must admit it does taste very nice! However the same thing could have been done with a food processor or any good food chopper really. However I will try and use it - I did find the raw vegetables very filling:)

wooo marion! free stuff is always good. I've got some sort of sinus infection which is making everything taste metallic at the mo - hopefully this will have a positive effect. Also having a broke month - due to the fact that I get paid on the last friday of the month I'm ending up with 2 mortgage payments coming out the same salary this month - and I have to wait till June till I land with no mortgage payment coming out of hte salary. Bummer. So eating out of the freezer and eating free stuff from work for as many meals as possible. Can't get Alfie( doggie - oh won't even go near it)to like couscous though . . . . .

Hi Katmad & welcome! Have you worked out your BMR and approx daily calorie needs to maintain your present weight?

Example if you require 2000 cals/day to maintain your weight, then a sensible deficit to lose weight would be around 300 cals/day (15% reduction), so you'd be looking at 1700/day intake. Going lower than this would risk a reduction in your metabolic rate, so you'd be eating less but creating no more of a calorie deficit than if you were eating more, if that makes sense!

    Hiya Missy

Yes I have been on a few sites and worked out that at my height and weight I use about 1700 a day (I walk to work but apart from that spend the day v sedentary sitting at a desk!) so aiming for a deficit of 400-500 (1lb a week) I think 1260 should be about right.

I'm good at the maths part - i love working out the deficit needed and even did a little spreadsheet which works out my deficit and converts it into lbs lost! (bit of a nerd) but the trouble I have is sticking to it! lol.

Had a good day so far - avoiding sweet things and looking out the window at the sunshine!

I'm v interested in making my own baked beans! De1amo and Scotsman4th could you share your recipes please?? :)

Todays the first time I've ever done it but its not turned out too bad. I could easily give up tinned beans for them.
Cooked the beans as per the packaging (100g), used 250ml passata, onion granules, garlic, pepper and some oregano. I think they also benefit if you let them sit a wee while (they taste better now than when I first made them 6 hrs ago).
I'll perhaps add some chilli later just to give them a kick.

    Hi guys,

just reading this and wondering how you work out your BMR ? Im wondering if im not doing myself any favours this week, have missed meals only only eating when i really HAVE to to try lose weight faster- although officially am doing SW the calories last few days 800- 1200 a day. Have also been working hard, today is a day off work and im soo tired cant do anything! wondering if i should eat a bit more incase its lowering my BMR by not eating enough???! Any advice?
louise, eating only 800-1200 cals a day is defintely NOT doing SW: you are under eating and this will make losing weight very difficult as you body will go into panic mode and hang on to fat reserves. On SW you do not count calories: their programme is carely worked out to ensure healthy eating, that you are getting enough calcium ,protein and carbs and fresh veg etc. They tell you, if you are hungry you are not eating enough. I lost 2 stone with SW originally and ate 3 good meals a day plus snacks which included eggs bacon and baked beans for breakfast.
And you lost 4lbs this week - aiming to lose weight quicker than that is I'm afriad very unrealistic if you want to remain healthy and for this to work in the long term .Please please eat more food. You will just end up hungry and miserable and feel deprived and then binge rubbish.
We all want to see you suceed here and you will if you just eat a bit more and don't skip meals.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Well done scots on the beans---i will get my receipe when the wife gets home from her 14 hour day--and makes my dinner lol--not really i treated her to chicken and salad earlier---are the roast spit chickens really as bad as they taste good??--i did peel off all the skin!!
Paid my money and joined the gym---had an arguement on the way back because my wife wanted to go for a burger king--i am beginning to wonder if she will take loosing weight seriously---she quizzed the girls at the sports centre if they ate burger kings and they said yes!!--BUT they all smoked as well and kept slim! my wife has just given up smoking and cant see the link between this and her constant evening binges on salty nuts!-she has gained a moderate amount of weight for the first time in her life.--we walked to the gym so got my 5000 steps in but wasnt a pleasant walk on the way back!!
İ drank some green tea and it wasnt as bad as i imagined--it does tend to'make me go' which is disconcerting when your trying to teach and want to trot!!
Can anyone tell me what the recommended amount of coffee is per day?--i drink it with full cream milk --today i had only 2 but i can easily get up to 8 to 10!!--i can adapt to taking it black if the milk is the problem--i dont have a sweet tooth despite this caffeine intake-i dont drink or smoke so i have to have a fix of something lol
hope youve had a good day and having a good friday night?
    mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.
