Vix - you are far too fussy!:rotfl:

Just got back from our local library where there was a talk being given on healthy eating and cooking. Turned out to be a group called Saladmaster doing the demo and trying to flog their very expensive gear. Most of what they had to say was nonsense really (did you know that by boiling or steaming or veg we are giving ourselves cancer - the only way to prevent this is to buy one of their pans that cook without water or fat. The electric skillet she used was very nice - for £790 it won't be coming to my place:eek:
They also made a nice mixed salad with the Saladmaster machine - a mere snip at £299!!!!!! But not for me folks - there was a quiz at the end and I answered the most correct questions and won a machine:j Thought it might be a trick but she handed it over without me having to promise my first born grandchild or anything else:T
Guess who is going to be eating a lot of chopped salad and veg for the next few weeks? Honestly who would pay that amount of money for basically a coleslaw maker?:rotfl::rotfl:

    Marion:)
When life hands you lemons, ask for tequilla and salt and give me a call!!!

Wow marion well done:T:T. And thanks for passing on the 'steaming veg casuses cancer' warning:rotfl:.
Mazza - well done for the sts - quite a result and sounds like you gave your visitors a great time.
Vix - excellent descriptin of the delightful Prof cox:D And yes, very nice teeth.
    Eric - I like nerds:D

Well done alliwant to for digging deep and working out what to do next.
    :wave:kpc

tagz - overall I am doing ok thanks. Not a good week this week but hopefully it will be a memory this time next week.
    Some good xercise advice Missy.

Monday's really bad day of ickness seems to have drawn a line under pigging out at the mo and I only seem to want sensible portions an no a lot of sugar, so I am hoping this feeling will last. Not looking forward to trying on last years warmer weather clothes when the time arrives.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Hi folks... lots to catch up on thanks for the welcomes...

Vix - if you dont want Gerard Butler - I'll happily have him yum yum:D... he'd definitley motivate me to keep going to the gym that's for sure.

BB, I'm sorry you're still not feeling terribly well but there's always a silver lining. Well done you for finding it. Think I'll come over to yours and make you ill once every 6 weeks or so to keep you on the straight and narrow.:rotfl: ..( maybe not!)

Welcome to any new posters. First step in a long journey together and it's always easier if you have a few people travelling along to give some advice and banter to pass the time.

Weird kind of day for me. Day one and I did better than I normally do on day one but still not as good as I'd have liked. I havent really settled on any plan as such but am eating healthily and cutting out the carp and upping the exercise. My 30 minute stint on my wii fit was rudely interupted by flaming canvassers for the election already. I do realise that my name is on the electoral register, I just dont like it when a specific political party check that I really am me. or perhaps checking out if they have someone who can impersonate me and steal my vote.. (sorry rant over). My worst moment of weakness today was when mum broke out the tunnocks teacakes (does anyone else like them???). That really is my failing - going to my mum's I mean. she has a need to feed me and I have a need to eat it !:o

Anyway.. thank goodness it's Friday tomorrow and another trip to curves and a fresh start.

    Hello all

Well, I'm back again. Been hovering around the group for a while, read your conversations for inspiration, but have decided I need to get back in again, If you'll have me?

. Every now and then I think 'right I'm gonna do it properly this time', but inevitably I end up back at square one eating too much bad food and feeling rotten.

So please can I join? I promise to do my best to stick with it and come on at least once a day for an update. I need to lose just over a stone, which although is not much is proving very difficult and I go through long periods (months) of 'not caring' and the scales are creeping back up.

So apparently I'm an 'all or nothing' kinda gal (not just with a giant bag of malteasers, with diets too!) So I have to be strict with myself. My plan is as follows. Mini goal - 7lb loss by June minimum

breakfast - granola bar and a cup of tea = about 230 cals I think.

lunch - salad with prawns/tzatziki/hummous/similar and a pitta bread (350-400)

snack - small amount of nuts or seeds (150) and a piece of fruit (40 -80 ish depeding on the fruit)

dinner - not going to restrict myself here, coz I love love love cooking dinner...but potions are my downfall, so smaller portions, less salt, homemade food, loads of veggies and less refined carfbs - aiming for 500-600 cals

    Total - 1460
I walk to and from work every day, burning around 200 cals a day
so total after that is only 1260

Is that enough? Am going to try to get to the gym at least twice a week and also have a stepper thing at home which I can use in front of the TV.

Any thoughts? Suggestions? help... Feel lost and worried and like i'm just never going to do it.

    thanks :)

Glad I'm not the only one! When I see mum she says "ohh you've lost weight well done!" Then opens the choccies/ice creams/snacks and throws them at me. I mean literally, so if I want to refuse them I have to hand it back!! SO difficult!:(
    I would if I could but I can't so I won't!

    Hi Katmad99.

May I suggest tracking your intake online? There are a few free ones (I'm doing WW, which you can get free for 3 months!), but have found it really helps to open your eyes as to what you are eating and it counts the calories for you. I thought I was doing fine on my own but once I started WW it got me into thinking about what and how much I was eating. I hardly weigh anything (food that is not me!) and if I fancy a bit of something naughty I can have it as long as I have the points.

    Hi Tagz,

I used the free site food focus to keep track of my calories and it worked for a while the problem is I discovered how easy it is to not update it!! So on a bad day i'd simply not bother... sounds stupid i know but i just let myself off the hook - i know it's bad to eat a bit of cake, i dont wanna see it on the computer screen! i am going to start writing it down in a book though, as i think my own handwriting might seem a bit less judgemental than a computer!

    Cheers

Oh yes, I would eat 1 or 2 boxes of them as an appetiser (the trouble is there mouth sized ...) whilst grazing and play warcraft etc ..... :(:(:( probably followed by a 2 chocolate oranges a large bag of maltezers and a large bag of aero balls over a 8-12 hour gaming session .....

we reap the seeds we sow

Hi Katmad99 welcome to the house of pain ;) :T:T:T:T

Just be careful with such a low calorie intake (alot depends on your height and size of course, if your a petite person then ignore all of this :p) its very easy to shut your metabolic system down which will make weight loss very hard and will also encourage the body to consume muscle rather than just fat which is not good.

If you start to feel tired, sleep more, cant concentrate or get giddy you are probably going to hard at it.

Good luck and we will help where we can :j
