Thanks for the welcome, heres hoping i'll be back alot more.
The quick tips are an excellent starting point for anyone. When I stopped smoking 3 years ago, much the same was said about nicotine and triggering the brain again to craving after only 1 cigarette.
The baked crisps look good too. Walkers do a lot of under 100 cal crisps.
I think the blood pressures more alcohol/weight related. Dont know if I could meditate with 4 kids running around lol.
Natural yougurts probably worth looking into using for different things. We used to use it for some chicken tikka dish.
Something I done the other day was had a baked potato with beans but melted a light cheese triangle into the beans.
We've also got the wii set up and the balance board. Theres plenty on that to work up a sweat lol and just dance is quite good too to get you moving.0 -
Just saw that Scotsman mentioned Sea Kelp. Has anyone tried it ? Does it help? Any side effects? Also read about leucine, it apparently helps regulate blood sugars and helps get rid of fat. Again any views?
The only time I ever lost a lot of weight (2 stone at the time) I took a sea kelp tablet every day.
My only reason for using it was because it was supposed to help boost your metabolism. It may have been in my head (that time I really stuck to what I was doing) but it's a good bit cheaper than all those pills some of the OH's friends have tried lol.0 -
my wife makes our baked beans so there is no sugar! she says its simple and a common dish in turkish households--scotsman they are really high in sugar from Heinz(and cost me 3 quid a can out here!)
Meditation can be done anywhere--on the bus--in bed before or after the kids are in bed--takes 20minutes of peace twice a day!-i do it in the middle of my wifes reception with loads of kids mulling about-i just close my eyes and close them outmfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0 -
really busy on here today:T.
Sob.. I so nearly made slimmer of the week...sigh... can't I at least have some stickers for valient effort in up chucking?:rotfl:
Thanks again Fred for the chart - always appreciate your efforts. And well done Laura:j:j
Tagz - great to hear form you and fantastic job with the weight loss:T The fact you have been able to excercise must mean your health is fairly stable too so hiphip horray:j.
Deebee - a formal welcome back to chart land it is:T. Yes the plate level was a bit dire so thanks for the push to get more.
Yes, I was brutal cruel to you, (carrot and water are an expensive luxury over here you know) but it was for your own good, but I thought you were a little touchy about wearing the leash with the walkies, but when in Brighton...
Eric: never heard of Gerard Butler and not into that sort of eye candy myself. Well, I thought that, but have noticed a marked increase in a facination with physics since Prof Brian cox came on the scene..anyone seen his superb series on the planets in our universe on Sunday evenings?
Welcome Scotman. I'm not so good on the advice, especially re exercise, but plenty here are, and you have already had some good replies already. Post as often as you can to help stay focussed.
De1amo - I have recently started meditating too and have found it helps me focus better and breathe better.
I've never tried sea kelp but it doesn't sound like it can do any harm and if it helped before, wehther in your head or not, not harm in going for it again.
Eric is of course right, dangerous age for men to carry all that weight round the stomach. so well done guys for doing something about it, for your sake and your families.
Will back latersI try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Hi BB! Yes thankfully health is more stable (too much to go into but I feel better now). It feels good to be back. How have you been?
I've developed a more curious mind since seeing Prof Cox and Mr Hammond on sciencey progs of late. Ding dong!Brighton_belle wrote: »Sob.. I so nearly made slimmer of the week...sigh... can't I at least have some stickers for valient effort in up chucking?:rotfl:
Any chance I could put all my 1 stone 2lb loss on for next week (I never did win anything!)I would if I could but I can't so I won't!0 -

not read much about it but from a quick glance of this most of the nutrients it gives you should get from a balanced diet with vegies, i would be worried about the amount of sodium in it (to be avoided at all costs if you have blood pressure issues) as we all eat far to much, I also have big issues with niacin, I spent 4 days in hospital with palpitations about 10 years ago and it turned out it was 100% down to taking a supplement with niacin in, stopped taking it and they stopped ....

lecithin can be very dodgy, again if you eat a healthy diet you should not need it, your body will make what it needs.0 -

Thanks for that Eric. I've got a few things wrong with me which include high blood pressure and Vit B12 and Vit D deficiencies, so I'd best check with the doc first!I would if I could but I can't so I won't!0 -

Heinz do a low salt / sugar beans but home made will always be better :j
stress can be extremely harmful, it releases hormones into the body (fight or flight response) and over the long term can do serious damage, meditating drastically reduces or even stops the hormone production but even taking a 30 mins break form the stressful environment for a walk will also drastically reduce hormone levels, exercise can also stop / reverse the effects, and yes alcohol can also work0 -
right off to knock the skins off the tennis balls--business meet afterwards and i will stick to my pledge of no soft drinks--water for me or if i look silly black coffee--to stay awake-good day to you allmfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0
