there are many sites dedicated to weight plateau, the tips and hints are handy to have and know, you are not alone, we all go through it and it seems amazing that short of complete starvation nothing will shift the weight but it will, in time, it will read up on it, get the ideas, put them into practice and see it come off again

Another good thing about having dellly stay is it prompted me to get some new plates and bowls: we only had 3 plates left and 2 of them were chipped

Oh.. you never let on that you'd run out of plates . I'm glad I made such a huge positive impact on your home :rotfl: Pity I didnt do the same for your health... :o.

Well folks, I know I said I was going to come back when I'd got myself a life - but after a shocking profile view in the toilets in B&Q this evening I've decided that I need to lose weight sooner rather than later so I've decided to come back.

Can I please be added to the chart for next week. The good news is that I've already lost a couple of lbs after my weekend in Brighton, partly because BB made me walk EVERYWHERE! :D and hardly fed me at all ;) (I can't half lie can I) so I want to make good the postitive start.

So, fresh start from tomorrow. WI will be at Curves on Wednesdays. Now that I've committed myself I'm going to have to stick to it aren't I?

Hi Louise -Alyson Well, joining isn't all that cheap TBH, but if you catch it at the right time you can get a good deal. I currently pay £30 a month, cant remember quite what the joining fee was at the time, I've been going almost a year.

The best thing about curves is that there's no men, (sorry guys) no mirrors and no make up, the work out takes 30 minutes and they recommend you go 3 x times per week. There is all shapes and sizes going to my club so I wouldnt worry about what you look like in leggings. The best I can say is, if you can afford the fees go and have a look. you will know if its right for you by the feel of the place. I knew straight away that it was right for me and I have to say that when I do manage to make the 3 x per week, it makes a big difference both to my weightloss and my body shape.

Hope you manage to get a little look soon. Let me know what you think.

    Congrats to our SoTW louise_alyson.

Congrats to everyone for an overall loss this week which has been a difficult week for many of us to stay on the straight and narrow :j:j

Let's hope the improved weather stays with us to encourage lots of walks and outdoor exercise :T

FS will add you next time, just post your weight loss every wednesday in large bright colours so that it is easy for FS to see.

Your frame etc is not really important what is important is how much muscle you have compared to fat and unfortunatly the standard BMI charts do not take into account how much muscle you have so it is possible to be the correct BMI but still have too much body fat if you have a low muscle condition or like many rugby players have a BMI that says you are obese and yet have a very low body fat. Body builders just throw the whole thing out of the window :D

This is why imo its important to get a gym that can calculate your body fat % accurately or failing that get some scales that use resistance to do it (ideally ones with hand grips as the footpad only ones are not so accurate) like these

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Omron-BF508-Body-Composition-Monitor/dp/B0033AGBVG/ref=amb_link_112643707_3?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=hero-quick-promo&pf_rd_r=138EDZA96VG6F7M4VH8Z&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_p=151272467&pf_rd_i=B001N064JW

In my experience targeting areas for fat burning does not work, the body has a tendency to take fat (when there is a calorie deficit) from where ever it can and you will certainly burn a huge amount more fat running / biking / rowing etc for 1 hour at 150-160 bpm heart rate than you ever would from doing a couple of hundred crunches and sit ups and it wont be anywhere near as painful :) . It wont do any harm to tone the stomach muscles but do it as part of a complete exercise regime, again a good gym will advice / design this for you.

Also if your have not done any exercise for a few years its probably worth getting checked by a doc to make sure its ok for you.
