Ha ha it's a Victory for Victory!
Just popped in to say hi and hope everyone has a nice day. the sun is shining again!!
Went out for dinner last night and had a salad but it was quite cheesy and had loads of dressing on. But I am intending to cut carbs from one meal a day so that was achieved at least.
I think I read somewhere that fats like oil etc are ok with veg / salad but not bread. is that right?
Does food combining really work? I know it's the basis of SlimmingWorld - but does it make any difference if you have fatty food with salad rather than with carbs??
Thanks fred for the chart. Love the motivational quote idea to. But the only one I know is 'fridge pickers wear bigger knickers!' :rotfl:

i have read up on this and it seams more snake oil to me i am afraid, we are a machine and at the end of the day energy is energy, even low carbing you can put weight on if you eat too much (atkins died a porker)
for me low / lower carbing is more about flat lining insulin levels so that you dont have craving spikes, removing refined carbs which our body process far to fast, reducing carbs in general since most of us are sedentary in lifestyle so do not use the instant energy they give (unused carbs are instantly stored as fat) and eating lots of lean protein which is an appetite suppressant.
for me anyway what lower carbing does is put me back in control of food, my bodies running more how it would have done naturally and without any silly tapping techniques0 -

Hi have followed this forum for a long while and have finally picked up the courage to post. Firstly, congratulations to you all for the determination you show for losing weight even with health problems that make it harder going.
I have about 3 1/2 stones to lose but seem to be going round in circles. I suffer from fibromyalgia, so i have some good days and some bad ones where im so stiff its hard to walk and get so tired. I need to sort out my health because im due to start a nursing diploma at uni in september and have to show that i can cope with the course.
I recently joined weight watchers but left after 3 weeks as i felt so sick, dizzy and tired, just feeling out of it. I know i ate properly from all the food groups but i felt ill. I've increased my food intake and it feels my head is switched back on but im left again to find a way to get this 3 1/2 stones off. A friend of mine has recommended slimming world so i wonder if anybody on the board could give me any advice.
The nurse at the doctors said that the medication im on might have something to do with how i felt, apparently it makes you hungrier and crave sugar, just what i need (not) Anyway, enough about me and sorry for the essay. xx0 -

Welcome Mrs Hunt!! :hello: Love your handle!!
If you need to cut your sugar cravings maybe the way to do it is cut out any processed foods, such as refined sugars in cakes & biscuits, "bad" carbs like white bread, rice and pasta, and anything with unnatural ingredients such as words ending in -ose and -in (takes ages to do the shopping cos you're scrutinising all the food labels, but you soon get the hang of it!). This includes ready meals such as WW ones - if you look at the list of ingredients in one of these it maked your hair curl, they add tons of crap to make up for the lack of taste:-
If you've made a habit of eating this stuff then you may get some side effects when you cut it out (headaches etc), but after that you'll find that your cravings will be gone and you'll be on your way to a happier you - plus maybe losing weight!! I try to eat food only as nature intended and cook most meals from scratch, I've even rediscovered the art of making real gravy lately instead of using packets!

I can't even smell the ww desserts as they are so full of sugar:eek:never touch them the meals yes, only a small amount of them because even the ones like sweet and sour and some you would not expect to have that much sugar needed in them have so always read the labels, even oxtail soup has sugar in it:D0
