    Welcome to all our newbies.

Eric don't ignore your doc too much, but if you feel better exercising I would speak to him about it and see what he thinks.

I am quite pleased to report that this week has been quite settled, I have however lost 3 lb :jwhich mean I now only have 2 lb to reach my 2st loss :), still a fair way to go  but I am now feeling back in control and heading in the right direction.

Here's hoping everyone else has had a good week!!

    Hi Betty, and welcome.

As a suggestion for breakfast/lunch. You need to find something that combines a reasonable calorie amount, as well as something that is going to satisfy you.

I choose a high fibre/wholewheat cereal like shredded wheat or porridge (made with more water than milk & sweetener), and find that it keeps me filled up until lunch, as well as helping to keep cravings at bay. If you have more time, then maybe an egg, quorn sausage & beans.

For lunch something like soup, fruit salad with O% fat yogurt should be filling and low on calories. A tuna or lean meat salad, with a slice of wholewheat bread, or wholewheat crackers should be another good option. If you find yourself wanting to snack, plan for it within your calorie allowance, or choose very low calorie options, such as sugarfree jelly, crunchy veg sticks like cucumber/carrot/celery. Avoid sugar and refined carbs where you can, because they often act as triggers to want to eat more and more.

If you're struggling to feel satisfied on the allowance foodfocus.com is suggesting, then how about doing a bit of exercise to put a few more calories in the 'bank' each day. Half an hour walking briskly, doing a few jaunts up/down the stairs, cycling, exercise DVD, etc. Anything you can do to put the heart rate up, and get out of puff will help.

Good luck, and make sure you don't eat too little, as you'll find you won't lose much weight after an initial few pounds, as your body will put itself into starvation mode. If you're getting your calories in sensible ways, such as lean meat, fruit & veg, you shouldn't be feeling hungry.

Mazza I hope the little man perks up soon. My eldest had that reaction aged 10 months, and was very poorly, on top of the ear infection he'd got. They bounce back quickly enough thankfully.

An OK-ish weekend here. OH is tetchy & moaning a lot, and I'm not entirely sure what it's all about, but it sure doesn't make for happy times. Trying to keep my head down and wait for the Eeyore cloud he has to pass. In the meantime, I'm doing lots of reading and have finished 1 book already, started on another.
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Be nice to your children, they'll choose your care home

Getting better and better at this maintaining lark. Err but hold on, I'm still supposed to be losing :rotfl:

The wee man's chest and stomach looks slightly worse this morning. Although there is no further spread down his legs and arms. Still feels rough, so another day off school :/

    Hi all,

In terms of the chart please fred its a sts HOWEVER I have actually lost 2lb this week, but seeing as I didnt post those gains over my birthday and the consequent week to post a loss would mess the chart up and be a bit cheeky lol. Still, makes me feel better in myself.

Dissertation should be finished in terms of writing today and then editing tomorrow for hand in friday. 1) yayyyyyyy so want it all finished now and 2) go me for not completely cracking and eating absolute junk while working! Bought myself a funsize pack of milky ways the other day when i was wanting something yummy as a reward and they are only 70 cals each and obviously individualy wrapped so makes a nice little treat and doesnt have that "once you pop you cant stop" effect that comes with packets of biscuits etc once theyre open.

Also ERIC - thanks for the tip about the mini low fat houmous pots from sainsburys. More expensive for the little amount you get but made a nice change with some chopped up red pepper as a snack in between a lighter lunch and dinner.

Good luck with weigh ins everyone x

thanks for these suggestions, Sarymclary, I will find some low cal things like carrot to snack on, as that is my biggest weakness. Also, my OH has banned me from the bread bin as he knows that once i have a bit of toast i just can't stop at 1!! he said he will know if i cheat as there won't be enought left for his sandwiches!:o

Good advice about exercise too. I work from home so I'm going to try to do a DVD or go for a walk most days. That way I can eat a few more cals without feeling bad. I know what you mean about the starvation effect, I dont think it'll do much good so best to make sure I am still full, but just full of good things. :)

I am pleased to report that from the last time i got on the scales (last week) I have lost 1.5lb :rotfl: pleased with this as it's a good start.
Hope everyone else is having a good day

STS for me this week. That's called getting-away-with-the-proverbial cos I haven't been concentrating on dieting, just too much else going on at the mo. Was outdoors all weekend helping out at the county show, got rained on a lot on Saturday then spent Sunday literally holding the fort down in very sunny but windy conditions! Lots of walking about the site plus visits to the burger and seafood stands, which is why STS, that plus a pizza on Saturday night cos I was too knackered to cook (and miserable from being in the rain all day). Also deep into revision time for my exam in 2 weeks, made full use of my 2 hour train journey this morning to catch up on some reading.:D

sary - my OH is being a bit moody too, snapping at the kids and moaning a lot about how busy and tired he is. I find just staying out of his way the best approach. Last night I went to bed early cos my alarm was going off at 5am today; I was still dozing at midnight when in he walks and hurrumps cos I hadn't told him I was going to bed. Cue lots of banging about the room as he gets ready, then stomping off downstairs to get himself some tea and toast. Must be the weather.

eric-meister - well done on your loss this week in spite of doctors orders. You must be doing something right! :D

Good luck with the WI's this week folks!!

Now I know I should be working but only have my conclusion to go (tho I can see im going to go over the maximum maximum wordcount which is 10% above the recommended wordcount so will spend this evening trying to cut it back a bit) and am so so happy! Had a house viewing which seemed very interested when they were here and have now arranged a second viewing which can only be good! Know thats not related but had to say it and seeing as calling anyone will get me distracted from working I decided to tell you guys :)

Ummmm food...i had healthy cereal! Was thinkin pepper and dip followed by 100 cals of weight watchers toast (2 slices) for lunch put now gonna push the boat out with 330 cals of ravioli....ooooo i know how to spoil myself! lol. Funny how amazingly naughty/good/yummy that feels compared to vegetable soup!

Have a great one all, I know I am so far!
