I've noticed a lot of members recently posting about the Harcombe diet.
Can anyone give me a brief run down of what it's all about?
Haven't shifted a pound (infact gained two!!!) in the last month following WW, after quite a good start.
Has left me feeling very demotivated.
As Brighton Belle posted I think need to re-engage with what and how I eat. Not sure if the Harcombe will be for me as I suffer with migranes but would be interested in knowing a little bit more about it.
thanks in advance

Out to dinner dinner tomorrow, quiet day of gentle housework on sunday (yeah right!!!) then the visitors arrive from Germany on Monday. Gonna try and keep the meals nice and light, especially on the days they are visiting elsewhere, haha.
But anyhoo, that's me off work until 8th April. So will be able to focus better without the vending machine. But will probably need to do extra workouts to make up for the lack of walking.
Has anyone ever done a salsa class? Sister wants to do one, have said I'll go, but as none of us have any rhythm or coordination I think we will spend most of our time and energy laughing at each other :rotfl:4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Mazza haven't done a salsa class as such but did get a basic lesson from a friend and the initial steps were simple. Go and have a giggle!
Wish my body would realise its Saturday am more awake tody than on a weekday!0 -
aww vix, hate when that happens.
I actually slept til 6:30 today. Got up, had coffee and back to bed til 8:30. Which is extremely late for me. Even though boss has me on late shift (9am start) my body is still used to getting up for the early shift (6am start) So am hoping this trend will continue throughout my holidays :j
Am looking forward to the salsa class actually. As you said, even if we have no coordination, it should still be a laugh :rotfl:Doesn't start until April though.
Now going through my wardrobe to see what to wear to the casino tonight. I can choose from the little black dress, or the other little black dress, or the new little black dress... hmm decisions decisions4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
The new one or THAT one? Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp :rotfl:4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

Hi there,
I suffer from migranes too, and you may find Harcombe helps you if your migranes are in any way triggered by food, as this will help you identify the offender and cut it out.
Harcombe has 3 phases, phase 1 is like a 5 day detox in a way - very few carbs and no diary or sugar. Most people loose 2lbs-1stone in this phase. The idea is everyone suffers from candida, hypoglycemia or food intollerances, maybe only one of these conditoins but possibly all three, and the diet aims to identify which of these you have and eliminate the cause.
Phase 2 is followed for as long as you want to loose weight, basically no fats (food with a face or came from something with a face) in the same meal as carbs (brown rice, wholemeal bread, wholemeal pasta, pulses, potatoes/sweet potatoes, fruit etc). Swap what you're eating half way through the day. Most vegetables and berries can be eaten with either meal, as well as quorn or tofu (meaning carb meals can actually feel like a 'real' meal). The diet is pretty easy to follow although having nothing processed or with sugar is hard to deal with at first - I miss squash as I hate water, and I also miss baking which is something I used to do almost daily.
A day might consist of:
Breakfast: Brown rice cereal/porrige with skimmed milk and a banana or homemade wholemeal bread with sugar/sweetener free jam (carb)
Snack: Apple and a pear (carb)
Lunch: Baked potato with low fat cottage cheese or quorn bolagnaise and salad (carb)
Snack: cheese, sliced meat or hard boiled eggs (fat)
Dinner: beef & vegetable stew (no potatoes) with cauliflower mash or homemade chicken curry (no rice or naan) with stir fried veggies
It's a fine diet for a veggie, no hassle for a meat eater, it would be impossible for a vegan (but then again I don't think a vegan exists who needs to loose weight). If it sounds like something you could be interested the book is only about £5 delivered on Amazon, and I'd definately recomend getting the recipe book too just to keep things varied (plus there is a stage 2 chocolate mousse in there!).
Last night I had chicken with leeks, courgette, onions and carrots stir fried with a thick creamy, cheesy sauce, followed by strawberries and cream, and I still don't believe this can possibly be a diet.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Beanie that's great! (Although I share BB's worriesa bout the first thing in the morning unclothed image)Eric_Pisch wrote: »C4 did a program about 10 years ago and they tested 300 burgers from them and found traces of cattle poo in every one
And similarly I can't eat french beans now- I found a maggot in one last week - albeit a cooked maggot  I wonder what would be found in any trials of minced beef ......
YUCK WARNING I heard about a friend who was hypnotised in order to eat less and as part of the process was 'instructed' to imagine that various foods were covered in poo. It worked a bit too well - and I suspect the hypnotherapist was drummed out of their professional association.0 -
Granny~Your yuck warning has put me off me lunch!!
Got 76% in my last OU assignment.
Hope you are ok? xxx
