My New scales tell me my BMR and is different from food focus BMR so was going to use the value the scales gave me, Is this what you would recommend?

Is there a significant difference? There are a few different forumlae around, but it shouldn't vary by too much :).

I use the Harris-Benedict equation to calculate BMR as it comes out slightly lower than Goran & Astrup or my scales and I prefer to be on the cautious side! I use the average of sedentary & lightly active as my multiplier, and add exercise calories separately.

Ok so looking at food focus my BMR is 1982 and my scales say my BMR is 1802 which as you can see is a little different ...... so should I multiply this by 1.2 then take off 15% to give me my ideal calorie intake??
Thank you for your help :A I want to get this right and not go into another plateau

That's a huge difference!!! Once you've done the multiplier on those the difference is over 200 calories! One of those can't be right.

What does this one give you?

That's close to your scales though (mine comes out at +/- 20 ish by the different methods).

OK so multiply that by 1.2 only if you are very sedentary, 1.4 for lightly active, 1.7 for moderately active, 2.0 for very active. If you think you fall between two then adjust the multiplier to whatever you think (remember it's just a guide).

That's your theoretical daily energy expenditure to maintain weight :). Reduce this by 15% to get your calorie intake to lose weight, and monitor your results for a few weeks.

If you've been eating less than this amount for a while, then I'd recommend raising the calories very, very gradually.

Don't get me started on my boob's I have bruised ribs from my new bra that was suppose to be professionally fitted I was in so much pain after 1 day wear. I am going to try bravissimo in brighton while I am there as my friend rates them very highly. I don't know what your thoughts are on them??

Thank you so much Missy I hope you can see why I was getting confused as I keep getting different results  But now I will slowly try and increase my calories to see what happens. I tend not to include my exercise calories as I hope that is what takes the weight off :D

No, they had him move in, gave him his own laptop, and let him pierce his lip!

Sary that is SO dreadful. As I read what had happened I was amazed at the 'mother's' behaviour but when it got to - 'let him pierce his lip' I shrieked. That's a permanent change to your son. I'm freaky about piercings anyway ...Vix said the woman needed a good slapping .... I'd agree. I'm so glad he's home safely with you now. Good luck.

De1amo - I am actually trying to teach myself the splits...stretching my legs everyday, any tips for me there?

Why would you want to do that? Or shouldn't I ask? Granny goes off shaking head in puzzlement.

I dunno about the piercings tbh, if it's something they are into you won't change their minds.

I allowed my DD to get one piercing. Thinking, oh if she thinks i'm ok with it then it won't be so rebellious of her. That was her nose. Then she got her top lip done, then she got her bottom lip done, then she got her eyebrow done, and now has her wrist done. Wants her neck done too. I often wonder if she would have done it if I had put my foot down, and have come to the conclusion that she would have done. Thankfully, she's let most of the piercings close, and isn't left with scars.

Alli - I understand, kind of, both my sisters were well endowed, and both ended up with bad backs. Both have had breast reductions, and both are left with severe back problems because of their boobs. Pretty sad.

Got another one of those wee dresses from Tesco. Black and Cream this time. Hope the compliments keep coming with this one on, although it's not as pretty as the other

Victory - Your pump sounds exciting I think I should look into one of those but 1 can at a time is good exercise for me :o means I walk further. I am glad we have had some rain as my water butts were empty but 1 day of rain and they are both full again  Also the rain has given my salad crops a good boost so hopefully next week we can have our first lettuce :D

It is a very powerful one, it empties the water butt in 6 minutes, so now it has obviously solved the problem of how to water the back garden and now created a new one of how to keep it filled up:rotfl::rotfl:
