    Sary hon, {{{{hugs}}}}

I was there when my DD was that age, she was a nightmare child! Thankfully she's turned out ok (most of the time)

When they were a wee bit younger, 14/15 yrs old though, I had one of her friends always running away from a problem home and arriving at mine. Was caught between the devil and the deep blue sea. So I got her mother's number from her, under duress, and called the so called mother. Asked her if it would be ok for the kid to stay at mine for a few days to let things calm down, or if she would like me to try and get her into the car to drive her home. Keeping in mind, I had never spoke to this woman before in my life, she told me to keep her daughter there as long as was necessary  Seemed the daughter didn't get on with the stepdad(s). Every few months another one would appear on the scene, and this poor kid would end up at my door, and we'd repeat the process all over again.

I'm still the same, my door is open to those kids who need someone to talk to, and although I only have 2 children, I have 2 who call me mammymaz as a result of their own parents neglect.

My own daughter is relatively settled. Adopted #1 is pregnant and in a stable relationship. Adopted daughter #2 has turned out to be a lovely lass, despite having many problems.

Sorry for rambling on, but trying to show, that these things usually turn out all right in the end. Can't believe this woman didn't even call you to let u know your son was ok.

K diet out the window this week, bl00dy tesco had my favourite walkers crisps and pringles on offer!!! Couldn't resist. Was out for late lunch/early dinner on Wednesday, and couldn't resist the steak. I'll pay for it next week no doubt but it was delicious.

Off out tomorrow night too, So totally loving the single life, even if it does my diet no good :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

wow scary what a time for you. Im sure alot of this is stress with exams. GCSE's were probably the hardest thing i have ever done, harder than my a levels and degreee combined in terms of stress/workload/sheer amount of subjects. That mother though, deserves a slap!!

Good luck for the weekend BB

    Hi everyone,
I've been lurking on this board but never posted before.
I joined SW this week and have been looking at the recipes here on the first page of the thread. Tried one of them this afternoon and failed miserably so I'm hoping someone here can explain what went wrong.

Two recipes in one - a lovely nibble and a lovely meal. (I did this as a nibble)
Drain and rinse your chickpeas. Shake as much water off them as you can. Preheat the oven to about Gas Mark 7, spread the chickpeas out in a roasting tin and put in the oven. Roast until chickpeas have gone crunchy - anything from 40 minutes to an hour and a half. Brilliant nibble!

After 40min on Gas Mark 6 Mine were burnt to a crisp. I tried one and it tasted like burned popcorn.
Has anyone made these successfully? I would like to have some syn free snacks for the evenings that is not fruit or veg and dip

Andyslinz, 1500-1600/day seems a good starting point for someone with only 10lb to lose :). After the first couple of weeks keep an eye on it and see if you're still losing what you expect to lose (and ensure you're not going hungry or suffering from lack of energy). Good luck!

I use a HRM and I love it, though remember if you buy one with built in calorie count it's still only a guide and they can be very 'generous'. I've made my own formula for exercise calorie counts based on duration and effort (heart rate), calibrated against my body fat results. This way I can be sure I'm not overestimating exercise calorie values, and that I really can "eat" the calorie burn I credit myself with, without gaining! :D

Apart from using the HRM to help with calorie calculations, I love being able to compare one workout to another and across different types of exercises and activities. For example I now know a brisk walk in the countryside is just as good or better than a moderate bike ride on the road.

Welcome to the thread Pud_ding and Greenpixey, good luck with your weight losses!

Sorry to hear of the various troubles people have been having :(. Hope better times are just around the corner.

    Eric, promises promises

Actually, talking of moobs, that's why I hate losing weight, I'm happy with the boobs n legs, it's the bit in the middle that needs to go, however it always falls off the boobs first :rotfl:

Not by any means an expert but it's recommended not to reduce your daily calorie intake by more than 15% of maintenance in order to lose weight. So take your calculated BMR and use the activity level multiplier to get your theoretical daily calorie needs, then reduce this number by up to 15% as a starting point.
Hope this makes sense! If you want any help calculating just let me know!
My New scales tell me my BMR and is different from food focus BMR so was going to use the value the scales gave me, Is this what you would recommend?
