I got one recently for the BBQ season, but have to confess that its great for cooking, as it is long and has the pocket at the front, not very PC style, but I also got a couple of tabbard ones for the kids baking...as they can make even more mess than me! another MSE'r gave me the web addy on another thread about world cup things

Very extravagantly I ALWAYS wear my Cath Kidston one to do my housework. Firstly I bought it at the outlet shop at Bicester Village - so I got it for a bargain, and it was a gift too.

I love wearing it - it protects my clothes from the cleaning spills I ALWAYS generate! I use the pockets for pegs, cloths, etc etc. I even wear it ironing...

Sad or not - I'd love a proper housecoat!! DH would think I've gone totally mad though!

I always wear an apron when I am cooking or eating anything messy like spaghetti or curry. I also wear rubber gloves every time Iput my hands into water other than obviously washing my hands. I couldn't bear the thought of cleaning without rubber gloves.

Now come on - every BBQ needs a cook with an apron to show who's in charge! Mine says "I'm a better kisser than a cook" (Good job I cook everything in the oven first!)

Ha ha! That means you are a freemason and your apron is only a ceremonial one :) a highly decorated one, too.

I thought only men can join the freemasons?
  • I do suggest to my husband that when he is doing a bbq he uses my plastic apron because inevitabley he splashes his clothes & himself & I have to wash the clothes - big enough to wash himself!:T :rotfl: :o

I LOVE wearing my apron as it's essential for keeping my clothes nice when eating and cooking with the kids.

BUT i have always longed for a 50's style housecoat, those pretty fitted ones with arms that are like a wrapover dress. Does anyone know where to get them? I have scoured the net, ebay etc and found nothing. Please help, addicted apron wearer in need......

i used to wear an apron when i had little ones but my gran always wore a flowery cross over apron in the mornings, those days washing by hand etc, then when she got dressed for the afternoon she wore the kind with a bib front
I have a flowery apron, the kind with the bib at the front and cross over ties at the back. It used to be my grandma's (who died in 1973) so you can see it didn't get much use when I was younger and more fashion conscious. These days, 2 kids and several years the older I love to wear it to remember her and to protect the few decent clothes I have!!!!!
