Dear All,
you may be interested to know that when I grew up in the 50's, it was not the 'done thing' to pull on your coat on top of the apron to rush out to the shops! 'What would people think?'!!! You were supposed to take the apron off in case people saw it underneath. A bit like setting your hair in rollers, covering it all up in a scarf and then going shopping in the city centre. 'What would people say?' That was before the days of hairdryers at home.
All of this was back in the days when you put on a hat and gloves with your coat if you went out! Imagine doing that now? (There is one woman in our small town who still does that. I must say she looks very smart...........but I can't say I want to copy her!!)0 -
Thanks to this thread I 'invested' in a new pinny this week - quite modern. Had to chuckle when I realised that I'd taken it off to answer the phone!

I got my lovely cotton, full-length apron free from Ocado - it was a free gift with my first delivered groceries order. Free delivery, too (if you spend enough on groceries) but food is a bit dearer than the other internet supermarkets - it's Waitrose stock (delicious!). Not sure if the gift is still offered to first-time users so check if you decide to try Ocado.0

I have several PVC aprons i wear when baking/cooking as i tend to always make alot of mess, plus all my children have them, both to cook in and to do any messy craft in.
I have a few vintage ones which go around the waist which i love, one in particular is a beautiful deep red christmas one with hand stitched angels on it, always makes me smile when i wear it whilst serving christmas dinner.
I have always wanted one of the old fashioned housecoats to do my housework in as i think they are very partical, especially the ones with large pockets, may have to look into designing and making my own in a more upo date style and material.Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. Did anyone see Anthea Turner wearing a gorgeous apron in this nights episode of Perfect Housewife? Would love one of those, saw one I would like yesterday but was £10!!
doddsyWe must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.

I have two, one that belongs to me bloke and the other one from a trip to Thailand which has a recipe for Tom Yam Kung on the front of it. I wear one or the other all the time. One too many occasions trying to clean spitting olive oil that flew out of the pan off clothes taught me that the apron is a good idea!!0

I wear a pvc coated apron, it goes over my head and reaches almost to my knees. The apron I'm using now has pictures of London landmarks on it. Whenever I visit far flung places, I always look for a new pvc apron...........I can't buy them locally.
My previous pvc apron had a kilt and sporran picture, very fetching with my knobbly knees.:o10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Give blood, save a life. 0
