I got bought a cotton apron for christmas, I'm 28 and have found myself wearing in when cooking for a couple of reasons:-
1. It's great when frying etc as no fat spits on my clothes
2. My daughter got an apron in her baking set for christmas and she thinks it's great that we 'match'Trying to be money neutral for christmas0 -
A friend of mine saw my apron & laughed, but soon asked for 1 for christmas. I obliged & found a gorgeous 1 but she didn't like it so I got her another, what a shame I had to keep the gorgeous one for myself
lol. I love it. Will often put it on just because & don't feel at all embarrassed when answering the door in it.
I love my aprons & can't imagine how I coped without one lol.
Hugs

I have a Pugsy apron for when I'm cooking with my son as he has a matching one. He loves that we both have the same ones, we were given them last year.
I've just ordered a Typhoon Vintage Floral Cotton Cook's Apron for when I'm not doing baking with my son0 -
I would love to have one of those 40-s/50-s cross-over pinnies for my housework, does anyone know where to get a pattern (free, on the internet)? I have searched but did not find one. Thanks.
I have three cooking aprons and wear them when I cook something splashy and always when I bake. If just making something simple I don't always bother. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
If you're really keen here are 50 free apron patterns of various designs! I keep meaning to make one to use instead of my pretty but too big Tesco one.0

I would also like to find a pattern for a cross-over apron - being a lady of somewhat larger proportions:o it would be nice to have everything covered when cooking!! :rotfl::rotfl:

I always wear a PVC or cotton full apron when cleaning, cooking (or eating something drippy when watching tv:o I have about 5 hanging on a hook behind the kitchen door where no one sees them.
Before I started using aprons, I would spoil clothes and stuff so I'm a committed pinny-girl.
If I could find a nice overall like they used to wear in the war I'd wear it every day in the house and only take it off when I went out or visitors arrive:rotfl:0 -

I found one on the internet but it is for crossover behind, not in front, so I did not save the thread. Also, the pattern cost some £6+ so I did not bother! The search continues, but I might ask my crafts and textiles teacher, if I get to make a pattern from scratch with her help I shall let you know and could send it to you to use after I have made mine! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Going on this subject... is it ever acceptable for a man to wear a apron while doing the housework? And if it is, what type? My postman thinks I'm weird enough as it is.
I've been thinking about this recently, as I have a lovely wool jumper I need to wear because it's so cold here, yet it's getting dirty!Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

Yes of course it is! How about getting a butchers style one? You can find them on eBay.0
