  • I have a PVC one and it is about 15 years old, I must admit I appear to be wearing it all the time for washing up, cooking, cleaning and bathing the kids. It saves my clothes from getting wet and dirty.
However I just realised how sad I am as I am wearing it now on my computer.

I need help and I am off to find aprons anonymous LOL

If you need help then so do I, I too find myself wearing an apron when it is not really necessary. I usually put on a pinny to do the cooking but then when I have finished cooking I end up sitting at the table eating my tea still wearing my pinny. Having said that maybe it is just as well because more often than not I spill something down myself when I am eating but the great thing about wearring a pvc pinny is that a quick wipe down with the dish cloth and it is as good as new.
I must be just as sad as you as I am also wearing my pinny while writing this however I am in the middle of cooking tea.
I think if your apron is 15 years old it is time you looked for new one.

My husband is a bit like that he always wears his apron when cooking but he usually keeps it on while we eat, he says there is no point taking off his apron to eat only to put it back on again to tidy / wash up.
I personally find my pvc pinny a bit uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time.

I used find it uncomfortable wearing an apron for long periods of time as well but I seem to have become accustomed to it now. I work as a hairdresser and when I first started the job I would put on an apron to do someones colour or perm but I would take it off straight after but now I dont bother I just wear my apron all day. To be honest I feel a bit naked if I am not wearing an apron especially at work.
  • I wish i had the confidence to wear my pvc apron in front of my family..im just too shy! :(

I'm not shy, it's just that my olds have very antiquated ideas. They can be very narrow minded without realising. I held off buying an apron for ages because I was sure that they'd think I was odd, or gay or something. In the end, necessity won. I'm still a little self concious around them, but they don't seem too bothered now.

  • You wear pvc aprons?
Well yes, but just one at a time :p

How old are you if you dont mind me asking?
    30

How did you start off wearing them in front of them then..and for what chores?
I just wear one for cooking to cover my uniform before going to work. Actually, I tend to put it on after I've finished cooking to cover my uniform while I eat.

It is a bit different with me because I am female but mother always made me wear a pinny when I was child so I kind of grew up wearing aprons. My husband was the same his mother made him wear an apron as a child therefore he thinks nothing of wearing an apron now.
  • Well I wish I had worn one today as my shirt is now covered in Damson chutney.
