no-one caters for my size. I havent been able to find anything to fit me properly, and I dont have the knowledge/skills to make one myself.

    Tell me about it!

Just seen this thread and Id want to say Id LOVE to have a couple of aprons. Trouble is I am a very large lady and no-one caters for my size. So, I have to make do with baggy clothes

I'm a larger lady too, but found that the Good housekeeping free apron a couple of months ago fit me very well. :j I wore it with pride whilst cooking, but my two teenage son's ridiculed me so much that I decided to forget it :o
Now thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker :)

How about replacing the ties on a cloth apron with some long ribbon?
Ikea aprons are very generous, and when Tchibo sell them, you'll find they are good for sizes too! They have a website, and do weekly specials like Aldi and Lidl do. My favourite though, is Ikea. The ones I've bought there have a single strip for the neck and ties which slides right throught, so they are adjustable. I hope that's clear enough? I'm not exactly small, either!

Thanks for your adivce guys. Trouble is I'd like the material on the apron to fit across my (more than ample) frontage and the neck loop to hold the apron up rather than throttle me every time I stretch up or bend down. And as for the waist ties, something more than a shoestring or two would not go amiss.

Having said that though, I will certainly check out the suggested websites. If unsuccessful, does anyone here with a sewing machine fancy my measurements??

Update: Ikea aprons are not available to buy online -and my nearest store is over 100 miles away :(
Tchibo doesnt appear to have any aprons on their website - and most of the clothes done come in my size

Looks like Im getting the tape measure out LOL

I've just found this on ebay. Any good?
  • Ladygrim, if you make your own then you could make the neck loop two seperate pieces of fabric that you then knot together to the correct length you will avoid throttling yourself or have one long strap on one side and a d-loop on the other to fasten it through and shorten accordingly.
I have one with two straps to tie together from a betty's cookery course, it's designed to fit people of many sizes and is absolutely fab.

    Hi Gigervamp,

    Thanks for looking

OOohhhh, there's a lot on eBay - but they dont put the sizes down. Note to sellers - one size does NOT fit all.

I wear an apron for cooking and washing up, sometimes for cleaning if it's a messy job. I've got a Toby Mott one (you know the designs that repeat the same sentence again and again) which says "I'm not your mother!"
