I don't like pvc aprons, when the washing up water splashes onto it, it runs onto your feet/slippers/legs

db1f_2.JPGThis is the apron I bought off ebay it is lovely quality, really quite thick almost cotton canvas I suppose, goes all the way around me (i.e meets up at the back) and has shoulder straps, and cost under a tenner including P&P. I am v. pleased.

  • Do any of you think me strange because of what I am wearing with my aprons?
  • I say wear what you want to and how you feel comfortable. I wear one of my nylon overalls everyday to do the housework, and to do the shopping, pick the kids up etc. The pockets are handy for dusters etc. If its long sleeved i'll roll the sleeves up or i've got 3/4 sleeved and sleeveless overalls. Nice worn over a nice blouse with the sleeves rolled up. Sometimes i'll wear an apron as well. It doesn't bother me to go to the door. Like i say, wear what you like.

  • I just meant, like wearing a baseball cap and my hair in a ponytail whenever I wear an apron, even when cutting my sister's hair. You see, even if I went to cosmetology school, I have not started a career as a stylist, because I don't know what the employer will say about me wearing a baseball cap all the time when at work. I know some stylists wear aprons all the time at work, but baseball caps? I currently work at Starbucks, as that's where I could wear that uniform.

And then there is this thing with wearing boots when cleaning, washing dishes, washing clothes by hand.

I'd forgotten about this forum and thread.

I appreciate hair can be a nuisance. I have the solution though: short hair!
  • I'd been thinking about this thread when I was reading the paper today. Apparently sainsburys are giving away a free apron, teatowel and ?maybe oven glove? if you spend more than £5 on fair trade goods. They are quite nice striped things too. I think the offer is on till mid feb. Def going to try to get one.
  • Hi! I made this poll at Misterpoll, a website where you could make your own polls:http://www.misterpoll.com/polls/328183. It's about aprons, so I thought you all might be interested in it.

I made an apron out of a nice blue and white striped Laura Ashley curtain bought from a boot sale. I used an apron I had as a pattern. It was easy and took about an hour.

It has large pockets in the bottom and bib of the apron and when I do housework I carry everything I need in them. It means I save time and I know where everything is!
