I've just enjoyed reading through all the thread & its been very interesting. I really like aprons & this is my christmas apron, it has little hearts & holly on the material...
& my everyday one which has tiny apples on the material...
they were both made as presents for me using an old apron as a pattern. I would really like to make some more so will be very interested in the apron patterns jinny & I love the materials on the site that you linked to thriftlady so going to have another look on there0 -

whilst on the topic does anyone know what colour a green top would go if bleach was spilled on it?
ive a green top with paler green spots down the front, am wondering if it could be bleach? ive only ever had bleach on a black top before and that went pinkWins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -

Sounds like bleach to me..............it normally turns a dark green into a paler green, bit like tie dye. You could always tie dye the whole thing, embroider as has been suggested, or, if you've got any odd pieces of lightweight cotton about, pop some trendy patches on.
Thriftlady...............loved the retro fabrics..........wouldn't they look good as liners (or even wrapping) for gift baskets. Didn't study the price on the site but might check out the next boot sale for similar type stuff.
Ooops........sorry went off topic..........originally meant to say, yes I wear an apron if I'm cooking, painting or in the garden.......always seem to manage to get grubby otherwise. Got a plastic one I picked up from the charity shop. Wipes down easy, paint cleans off providing its emulsion and the garden stuff just brushes or wipes away.
Somewhere..........not sure where, I've kept my sons canvas apron he had from art college. I seem to remember it washed up very well........just got to remember where I put it..................lolMary

Allright. When it comes to bib aprons, which style do you prefer? Neck strap or shoulder straps?
I have aprons of both sorts. I usually alternate between neck strap or shoulder straps.
However, when I cut my sisters hair, I usually put a stylist apron with shoulder straps on her. I myself wear my normal things (apron, my hair in a ponytail and a baseball cap). But I feel that I don't have that good access to her hair if she wears a bib apron with a neck strap. So after putting on my things and taking out what I need to cut her hair, she puts that apron over her head, I do up the shoulder straps and tie a bow in the back.0 -
