Have you got a dress which you like the fit of?
Take a pattern off the front, and do the back part which covers the top of the shoulders so you have almost a sleeve which covers the shoulder blades. Make a wide belt (I think a wide belt would give a better fit) and there you have an apron. HTH.

  • Hi Belfastgirl. Why not trim each side down? --

It makes a change for bought one to be big enough, let alone too big.

I'm just assuming it isn't so long that you trip over it?;)

Ah the bit I forgot to add was that I spilt bleach on it about two days after I got it so it looks terrible and isn't really worth altering as I need a new one anyway :o I have safety pinned up the bit that goes around your neck (otherwise the top of it is roughly at belly button level :))

When I think of it though while it's a pain that it's too big it would be just plain depressing if it was too small so maybe not the worst mistake ever...

And there's another post to give me a hollow laugh. Dress that fits? Hah. I have never ever had a dress that even remotely fitted :)

Been busy sewing fancy dress for chilren in need. I'll have a go making a pinny soon, saw some lovely xmax cottons in a fabric shop but a bit pricey at £6 per metre.

Trying to find an apron pic that may solve Belfastgirls fitting problems........watch this space folks, I might find it...soon...

    sorry :(
  • I wear one of my nylon/polyester overalls nearly everyday while i,m in the house. I'll also wear one when I'm out, shopping and alike. For doing the housework they,re ideal. I,ve got quite a few, all the coat style, some with long sleeves that can be rolled up and 3/4 sleeves. Blue, brown, pink gingham and check ones etc. In the summer I'll wear them like a dress over my underwear with a belt around the middle. My husband likes me wearing them. I think more women should wear them, I'm sure lots do. So back to the question.
Does anybody wear a nylon overall ?

I can answer that one very simply: No.
(but I do have a fine collection of aprons!)
