HI there,
what do you all cook for dinner/lunches.
Im looking for lots of new ideas. Will you share them with me?
And can I also ask, does anyone tend to go for brand names or shops own brand when buying food.
I always go for brand foods, and Im starting to think is it worth it?

I haven't had lunch yet or even thought about it.
I tend to go for shop brand unless the brand named items are on offer so work out cheaper!0 -
sorry read the first bit of the OP completely wrong!!
lunches usually consist of what I can find and what I fancy! Usually some kind of sandwich!0 -
Hi, Jackie! There's loads of threads on meal planning. I'll go and fetch this week's thread - click here. We all post our plans for the week there. Penny Pincher should be along soon to start the next one.
This is the link for the Complete Menu Plan Collection - loads more ideas.
I usually buy shop own brand goods, apart from Flora and Marmite - for DH!!
Black Saturn has a great thread going atm, where people are discussing *value* ranges. Click here.
And if you're vegetarian, or even if you're not, try Gingham's inspirational threads - click here.

I always buy own brand everything except mayonnaise and red sauce.
As for lunch, you've reminded me how hungry I am! Might have a cheese sandwich or cheese on toast.. as for dinner I'm going to littlemisskitkat's (Think that's right!) cowboy pie!Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

For tons of items such as tinned fruit, veg, bread, eggs, etc. I will go for the value/ no name super cheap items, but if it is something like sausage I will not go value but will instead use store brand. Asda & Aldi brand curry sauces are nice. Basically I look at the ingredients and if they are the same I'll go for it.
For lunches, I do not generally like cold lunches, with the exception of granary baps with butter and smoked ham. So I may have lentil soup, or leftovers from the night before. On the weekends when I have the whole family to feed I'll make something like fish fingers & chips or tortellini with pesto (super cheap and yummy from Aldi!) We do eat lots of those ham sandwiches though because we like them.0 -

we all take packed lunches to school/work and for a family of 4 I spend about £100 per month, all fresh produce, no ready made frozen shop bought stuff0 -
