It is impossible to get the £5 back off these shysters. Spent 30 minutes on the phone to them, still not got the £5 back. It's not worth the aggro to be honest. They have no email contact for Customer Services that in itself is laughable. What a disorganised and dishonest company!!
Its for the company to sort out not MSE. You can hardly blame MSE for this fiasco what are they cannot guarantee the competence of Dairy Crest can they!
Duh!
BTW as Dairt Crest have invoiced me the full amount i have cancelled my DD. Yes, this offer isnt as promised but i dont blame MSE and I wont be using th eservice again because of this which is a shame because I liked the goods and the delivery was fine.0 -
Hi folks,
Sorry for the wait on this - we have been waiting on Dairy Crest to investigate this, and get us a statement out.
I've posted the whole thing below, but it's quite long so here are the headlines:
- If you are eligible for the fiver discount, but were invoiced for the full amount, Dairy Crest have confirmed that the full amount will not be taken from your bank account. Instead, the next invoice on 20 April will show the £5 discount applied. If it takes the full amount before that point, please let us know in this thread.
- Please check that you only used one discount code on the order. The MSE code could not be used in conjunction with any other promotion.
Please read the full statement below, and if you still think there have been some errors made on your order, let us know.
Hope this helps-- The offer is only open to customers who set up a regular payment method. As a business we only invoice customers on the 20th of every month. If you are eligible for this offer and your first delivery was after 19 March 2010, the discount will be applied to the next invoice which will be issued on the 20 April 2010. If you took up this offer and spent £5 or less on your order, no money will be taken from your account. If you spent more than £5, it is only the excess that will be charged to your account.
- Customers can only use one promotion code per household to be eligible for £5 discount as per our promotion T&C's: "Cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer" and "Only one £5 discount per Household". So if you used two codes, then only one discount will have been applied.
- Where existing milk&more customers have set up a regular payment method and used only the MSE code, but not received the discount, they are eligible for the discount. However, due to a technical problem beyond our control, some discounts have not been applied this month. We apologise for this error and are working to resolve it so that the £5 discount will be applied to next month’s invoice for all eligible customers.
We apologise for any inconvenience any customers may be experiencing and we are doing all we can to resolve the issues. Should you need help with your account please only use our Customer Care line 0845 606 3606, rather than any geographical numbers you may have seen on this forum as only our dedicated Customer Care team will be able to help you. We understand that the waiting times have been longer than usual, but please rest assured our team are doing their best to help with your enquiries.Former MSE team member0 -
I find that a little odd, because I didn't see it stated anywhere (obvious) on their website that you could only use one promotional code. If the system allowed you to apply two codes, then it seems a bit backhanded to tell us afterwards that it wasn't allowed...
Besides I have already had two separate vouchers credited - free coolbox at £4.99 and the free MSE fiver, not instantly one the invoice obviously, but had to ring up about it, but the girl I spoke to on the phone didn't seem to have an issue with me having used more than one code.
I know there's been a lot of bad feedback here on the site, but personally I don't think I've done too bad out of this, getting a coolbag and some free milk and bread, just for the hassle of making a couple of phonecalls, so I reckon I'll keep my account with them open, and use it for instance when we're going on holiday, if we get back late at night, to make sure we'll have milk and that for breakfast the next morning. It is obviously more expensive than normal grocery prices, but it's delivered to your front door, and supermarkets don't do that for free either...I don't think I can hang on til Friday...0 -
Hi folks,
Just a quick response though Dan has said all the important stuff.
Dairy Crest is a big reputable company - so we didnt have a problem going with this. We knew there'd been some issues for a few people with the deals and indeed said that prominently in the note on the deals page about it - so everyone knew the situation.
We then set up this thread to monitor the feedback (as with as many responses as it got - there's always going to be some problems). When they did arise we were on to Dairy Crest to get it sorted and do what we can to help people and now have a statement telling us its sorted.
I find some of the venom above saying "why isn't MSE doing anything" quite bizarre.
This is ultimatley a freebie deal
We warned that some may have a few problems
We put facilities in place to monitor it
We addressed it when it happened
We made sure it was fixed
Im not sure quite what else people would've liked us to do - the only way not to have these issues would've been not to include the deal in teh first place and as most people got the free fiver and haven't reported issues that would've been a mistake.
So Im glad its sorted but please show a little faith in us.

This is why for all the addresses that i did this to i used written off debit cards for the standing order bank account,
plus cancelled the standing order's through the account online as soon as i got the stuff!
As i knew this whole offer sounded very suspicious,
but since they were claiming that it was £5 worth of free stuff they had no reason to have access to any bank account of mine that they could take money from!!0 -
Thanks Martin. I think perhaps there may have been some distorted opinion as I'm sure you'll agree it can sometimes be all too easy to risk overshooting when you feel you've been misled (by Dairy Crest that is, not yourselves). Whilst it was described as a freebie deal it was starting to look like it wasn't to many.
Obviously only speaking for myself, my only gripe was that there was a thread of over 100 replies - of mostly dissatisfied posters I think it is fair to say - before anything was heard. Of course, the cause of the problem was Dairy Crest's but with their 0845 number and long waiting times I think some felt they'd been left in the lurch with no straightforward resolution. With this in mind it was surprising to see the deal still being promoted on MSE hence more and more customers were being sent down the same path despite the obvious confusion and apparent failures of the system - problems which were inadequately reflected in the caveat. It might have also helped to have put a link to the T&C's (apologies if I missed it, but I still can't see it now!).
Thanks for your help with applying the pressure though - and finger's crossed they get their house in order!
Cheers, (pints of milk, obviously)

The reason people complain is because they expect MSE to sort everything for them when problems occur. This is a free forum with free advice so !!!!!! people stop blaming MSE for these logistical problems.0
