Is planting a smacker on the lips of a family member a northern thing ?

I only saw it in the south, never in the north where I grew up.

Maybe it's only in certain counties?

I would probably kiss my old granny on the lips, but that's about it, and let's not start talking about crusty old uncles who try to cop a sly smacker

    Maybe is culture ?
I am latin and I do hug and kiss everyone i see, even when someone is introducing me in a conversation i feel i have to, plus is really funny looking at my BIL's face when i see him, and after his Hello i say, come on, you are my brother give me a kiss ( in the cheek), he is so unconfortable that is so sweet, i mean i really love him.
I also hug friends because they are special to me but not to everyone i see that i am not that close to, people only get a kiss from me, unless i kinda see that the wife/Gf is really unconfortable with me around so they only get a affectionate hello and big smile..... after all i am only 25.

I love hugs and kisses, and anyone is welcome to give my OH friendly hugs and kisses, too. (As long as he doesn't mind, but he is a big boy and can speak for himself).

It's just the kissing on the lips, from non-lovers, that I don't like.

Well both our families are English so no latin, greek or anything like that...

It is funny though to watch my auntie (mums sister) chase after my dad to plant a big smacker on his cheek. She only does it for fun though.

I asked him last night why he didn't reply and he said he didn't see anything wrong with it. Then he was in the dog house as he started to get hormonal with me. (anyone would think HE was the pregnant one :D )

There isn't anything wrong with it, and if my OH told me I shouldn't kiss family members on the lips then I'd probably have a little laugh at him. I'd think he was the weird one!
I asked him btw and we both agreed it's fine. Lip-smacking-kisses-ahoy!

Neither I or my family were kissy huggy but I see my 20 year old son once a week, he is at uni, and give him a hug and kiss on the cheek. I dread to think what he'd do if I kissed him on the mouth. I'll save that for when he comes too often and gets on my nerves.
