Kissing parents/family members

Options
I know this sounds a weird question. My family are not kissy kissy huggy huggy saying love you alot type of family. My OH's on the otherhand are. When he says hi to his mum he kisses her on the mouth. Says Love you at the of phone calls. I just find the kissing on the mouth bit weird. Is it just me thinking that or do others think this? He's nearly 26 and an only child.

My family are kissy and cuddly. We say Love you at the end of phone conversations or visits. Still kiss my mum and sister on the lips and I'm 23. Kiss my dad on the side of the face tho. Was actually having similar conversation with work mate as both me and my sister are both slender and blonde and I would say we were pretty (without being big headed) and we went out for a meal 2 weeks ago , at the end of the meal we put our coats on and my sister gave me a wee hug thanking me for meal and for catch up and planted a smacker on my lips , que a big group of guys wolf whisteling etc. I was mortified !!! So was asking work mate if she thought we were odd. I have to say tho that Im glad we are like that because I never saw my brother before he died and I know that the last time I had saw him I had given him a big cuddle and a kiss and told him I loved him.
Thanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

Honestly, my opinion is also that it's a bit weird. I have a few girlfriends who give me a peck on the mouth in greeting and find that a bit odd and all (touchy-feely friends, so it's just the way they are I suppose!) but I think when kissing your children it should definitely be on the cheek or forehead.

Then again as long as his mum is fine with him giving her a peck on the mouth (and they don't expect you to do likewise!) I wouldn't worry about it. Would be interested to hear other people's views.

My Oh will kiss his mum on the cheek, but the mouth? Sorry, that's a bit weird.

    We all do that.
Mum, Dad, eight children, six grandchildren. We all hug and kiss hello and goodbye and the grandchildren are urged to give kisses as thank-yous as well.

Don't see anything wrong with it myself, we're a close knit family (Bro 2 is moving 45 mins away for work and it's seems so far) and we are affectionate, with each other and with family friends.

My family aren't huggers and kissers! I find it a bit weird :o although I do hug and kiss my daughter, but she's 4!

My OH's family are huggers and kissers, which is fine, but I don't like it when I'm expected to join in! I like my own space and am very much aware of my personal 'bubble' and the only people who I feel totally at ease with is my OH and my DD.

My family have always been huggy and kissy but only kisses on the cheek. Also my brother and I don't hug or kiss each other - never have! But we both go round kissing hello to parents and grandparents and goodbye, and thank you for presents etc! I hug more with friends to say hi and goodbye though close friends get kiss on cheek. In all honesty i find it quite disturbing if friends or family members kiss each other on the mouth. In fact my partner kisses his daughter on the mouth (but she has autism and hasn't really got the hang of kissing yet she kind of just leans forward with her mouth open! lol), i think for them thats fine but i hope he doesn't do it when she is older and i always make sure i kiss her on the cheek - just wouldn't feel comfortable with anything else.
My partner doesn't seem to mind my family hugging and kissing him all the time and i got a hug and kiss goodbye from his mum when i met her and his sister but previous boyfriends have been slightly freaked out I think by the fact that i'll probably kiss my mum hello and goodbye each time i see her even if i pop round twice in one day!
