Hi Sexy, sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I've had one of 'those' weekends.
I am going to suggest that the material is wearing is not good for you. There is a black dye that is used - the same type that is used in hair dye - and a lot of people are very allergic to it.
However, I am also going to suggest that a) you need to wear a cotton bra if this is having with every bra and b) that the style of bra you are wearing is not suited to your shape. The Tango II for example has quite a deep band yet there are some, the Elomi Cleo, most Freya bras and Panache harmony for example, are bandless so you do not get this deep amount of material which would rub. The same with under the arms.
I would suggest first changing the range of bras, if the same thing happens then change into a cotton bra.
As long as the band is not rising up and the cup overspilling I would suggest staying in the same size. You did not minetion either of these things happening so for now I'll say to stay with the same size. The other problems probably mean that the style of bra is not suited to your shape, get something with a cup that is not so deep so it does not rub under the arms..
Hope this helps.Hi Bluemonkey,
I have been lurking on this thread and you offer so much good advise so I wondered if you are able to help me.
I was wearing a 40D for a long time and twice now I have been measured in Debenham at 6 months apart and same lady has put me in a 38E. The bras do fit much better, I have the gorgeous range, but the underwire of the bras are digging in and leaving red marks/rash and leading to spots in area underneath the breast.
Should I get remeasured somewhere else or try a different brand. Another problem I sometimes have is if the bra come up too high for under arms as the wire will rub and agian cause rash boils under the arms, although this may not necessarily be the the bra as I know that shaving can also cause this.
thanks for any advise, I am in the Harrow area.

I am very naughty though and still bought underwired even though im pregnant cant be dealing with saggy boobs when i already feel like a beached whale and i dont find them uncomfortable at all so i dont see why i cant wear them :-)
Oh no.... sorry.... can you feel the lecture coming on.....
The milk ducts (whether or not you intend to feed) can get damaged where the wire digs in and you will not feel it, the time you will know is when your milk starts to come in it cannot get out and so you can end up with mastitis. I have had this and it came on in an instant while I was waiting at the checkout to pay in Tesco and I nearly fainted, I was in so much pain I cannot tell you, I struggled to get home, it is like a very bad case of flu.
This is why you should always wear a non-wired bra - also because your breasts change shape so quickly they need to be supported and you cannot see the damage you are doing inside.
There are some gorgeous non-wired bras out there at the moment, nothing to do with comfort but more with looking after your body because of the damage it is doing that you cannot see.

Amyb, I can get you more pretty bras than you would ever be able to dream about at a 40G and that is NOT an awkward size at all  - if this is your size. I am really surprised at JL and I would complain to head office (might be worth it to get some vouchers or something, her attitude was unacceptable).
Anyhow. Does the 38 band fit you? Does the GG fit you? If the answer is yes and no, too small then I would try a 38H. And I can get you LOTS of bras in that size so if you are interested PM me and we can talk some more.
Go to my homepage via clicking on my name and choose either 40G, 38GG or 38H and have a look at the styles, you'll be amazed - and I can get many more styles than this if you need them. And cheaper ones to order too. Heavens, I thought JL would have been more useful than this, I do not usually write what I can get but I'd like to help you as I cannot believe the attitude of JL. I am sorry they made you feel this way when you made that effort to get to their store.
Well iplucked up the courage and went into John Lewis for a fitting (discounted Debenhams as the girls were about 16 and I’d would have really made me feel old, fat and frumpy.)
The lady asked me what size a wore and I said anything 38 or 40 back, and F/FF/G/GG cup. But that that was just guess as I’d been never been measured.
She measured me and advised I was a 40G, but I needed to try some bras on as I may need to go up/down a little dependant on size. So she wandered out and came back and told me that because I was an “awkward” size they only had two bras in my size.
One was the “Doreen” – which I discounted without trying it on even though she advised me I would look better on. (I don’t think my BF would get near me for laughing)
The second was a Fantasie Belle (£34) I think in a beige-y colour. It fitted but I thought it looked horrid. Like my boobs had had a fight as they were if pointing outwards (if that makes sense). Also I felt my whole chest was hanging too low. She told me it was a “fantastic fit, and they could also order it in white for variety.
I made me excuses and left without buying anything (and feeling pretty crummy). They had such lovely funky pretty colourful bras and I was stuck with something my Nan would turn down for being too frumpy!!
Anyways as I needed undies I went to Marks and brought a red full cup lacy-ish bra for £18. I didn’t get fitted took a couple into the changing room and in the end went for a 38GG. It fitted like I’m used to; i.e. gave me a Cleavage that was close to spilling out of the top of my bra (I normally shop in Marks and its always the same). I’ve not worn it yet but know I’ll still get back ache and it’ll irritate but it’s the best I can do I think.
I know everyone knocks Marks, and the bras don’t last that long, but they have larger sizes in nicer colours and it’s not too expensive and I get matching Knicks (I’m a size 20/22 so this is nice)
I hate bra buying !!0 -
I love this thread, I've learnt so much and isn't Blue Monkey just marvellous :j
I've just got a halterneck dress and having tried it with halterneck bra where you could see too much of the bra when I moved I'm wondering about either tit tape or a stick on bra type thingy. I'm only a B cup (although know I must get myself properly measured) and could get away with being bra less in this dress. Anyone got any recommendations?:j Go on, shake your money maker! :j0 -

Hi Blue Monkey
Thanks for the advise and sorry for late response. I do think the bras fit properly apart from giving me a rash as the 40D were definately not the right size as the middle bit did not go right in if you know what I mean.
I have been wearing Ooops M&S bra for last couple of days and it isn't rubbing as much as the Gorgious ones, I'll try different ones I have in the draw for a few days and next time I will purchase a different make.
Thanks agian
