Have you thought about indirect flights? I know it makes for a longer journey but the savings can be ££££. Only way we've managed to get there.

    Hello,

    Thanks for the reply.

We would rather go direct really. We could go with Travel City Direct from Manchester, they are coming up cheapest, for us, anyway They say on their website that they are updating their fleet with better entertainment. I have e-mailed them to find out more.

I am due to read the rest of the discussion, but who have other people booked just flights with, please?

I suggest you look at some reviews of Travel City Direct before booking(try Google); in particular look at the delays on flights. Their costly and compulsory car insurance makes their cars hundreds of pounds more expensive than exactly the same cars from other firms.

Personally I wouldn't touch the firm with a bargepole.

    ok

determined to go with my partner to florida for 2 weeks - aiming to go on saturday (3rd september).

been researching a little (i have been before a few years back).
this is such a good forum.

so far - nothing booked but have got a quote on a private villa for £600 incl taxes for 2 weeks (although hoping for better than that). (she really wants a villa even thou there is only 2 of us).

havent got flights yet - is it worth waiting till tur/friday to book flights?

car hire - got quotes of £360+ compact car for 2 weeks (im only 22 so got to pay a bit more).

anyhow - thew car insurance is bugging me. what is the £200 they sting you for? can you buy that in advance in the UK?

also - do private villa owners come down in price nearer to the date?

hope to have it booked by wednesday midday.

would hope to get a villa for sub £500 for september (2 weeks)
    flights for sub £200 each
and car hire - £350 + possible insurance sting seems expensive.
got my disney tickets already .

    any help highly appreciated.

    thanks,.

Bon Voyage and Airline Network are good ones to start looking at. Airline network are also good for car hire.

I'd also have a look at The Dibb which is a great UK forum for WDW and Florida. Everyone's really helpful and they also have some great looking Villa's advertised on there.

    .

The CDW/LDW and taxes etc can all be booked in advance over here - we tend to do that as it can work out cheaper. I strongly do not recommend the economy cars especially with luggage as they often do not come with a rear parcel shelf and hence people can see in if the car is left unattended. Got for an I2/I4 for a bit of added comfort. Just about all cars come with air con etc. I would recommend going with one of the well known companies, ALamo, Hertz, Avis and check in advance to see if they are on/off airport as that can take time to get the hopper bus to pick up a car.

Do you have any preference for airport to fly from?? At this late stage you may be better to go for something which includes accommodation as there is usually little difference in price and then wory about finding a villa after your flights etc have been booked. Saw a fly/drive the other day for September from Manchester for £250 based on two sharing.

You may get an owner to come down on price nearer the time but to be honest if you are wanting it for two weeks the chances of someone having two consecutive weeks free at this time of year can be pretty slim.

    Best of luck

I need to fly from manchester - if i have to birmingham.

happy to get a compact car - have been previously warned against economy cars.

not to fussed about getting the hopper bus to pick up the car.

where can i get a price including all necessary insurance and (if applicable) under 25 add on cost.

thanks for the help so far.
  • Where did you buy your park tickets? I need to book Discovery Cove for October - any suggestions on the cheapest place to book?
