Hi, This is my first post so please bear with me if it is posted in the wrong place.

I have a holiday booked to Florida for February 2006. We are staying in WDW for one week and Clearwater for one week. I was wondering if anyone else had been at that time of year who could give me any advice and let me know what the weather was like. I have a 2 year old son who I already have to pack a lot for so I want to make sure I take the right clothes etc. for him aswell as myself and my husband.

I have been reading through the other Florida posts and found them very useful. Thanks to those who have posted.

Average Tempratures for Feb are just over 60 Degrees F. Best advice is to dress in layers and make sure you have something warm to hand if you are going to be around late at night waiting for the fireworks or parades.

Feb is one of the dryer months but the rain in Orlando can fall very heavy so make sure you have some rain coats to hand.

    Have a great trip.

Yup this will be my first time going to orlando...so i need your help i was going to book flights through iceland air for 1tth April 2006-26th April cost £1716 and then book accomodation through Alpha rooms at the comfort hotel at a cost of £455 i was wondering if anyone had booked this way.....and if they had found a cheaper better way...im also looking for info on the best deals on park tickets, and also if its better to book a hire car or not. Just pm me with any good tips thanks
    :)
  • We stayed in a Villa last year, and found it cut costs considerably we were able to prepare some of our own food.(trust me, Im no keen cook - by this I mean breakfasts and snacks for the kids that we took to the parks in a cooler bag!!) We also had all our own drinks, and therefore did not have to pay hotel prices for drinks and snacks.

We are planning on going back next year. I was looking at direct holidays website earlier today and found they had some great deals departing in the next few weeks from Glasgow and Manchester. Although you are not going in the next few weeks, it may be worth waiting until two weeks before you go to book.

For example, we are 2 adults, 1 child and an infant. To stay in a hotel simalar to the one you quoted, the price was less than 900 for all of us, from Manchester for 2 weeks.

For an apartment (like a villa but not...) it was 1200. I am sure I would have found a villa if I kept searching.

So there are some huge savings there. These prices exclude car hire - but there is a website villas4all.com that has a link to a car hire site - this was much cheaper than any of the tour operator prices for car hire. I would recommend the car for getting around.

the thing to watch when investigating car hire is that the price you see (from as little as $x per week), may not necessarily include all the insurance and taxes that you cannot drive without.

harrinp1 - i had a look around the satnav site you recommended, decided to go for it...only to find our that they dont have any units available  :(

is there anyone else you can recommend?

    Give http://www.rentasatnav.com/ or http://www.carhiredirect.co.uk/pup.asp?LocCode=159 a try

The 2nd one isn't an affiliate link. Just preselects Florida car hire with that company with SatNav fitted.

we've actually hired the car already through Avis, just thinking about the satnav unit itself now.

have tried contacting avis, but their website is poo, and i dont particularly fancy phoning.
